Think how much a mono box in shrinkwrap is going to bring.

Exactly my reaction when I read Grant's list. BFS in stereo is stunning. I have an early 80's vinyl Harry T Moss-cut UK reissue and it's a thing of beauty. If the remasters even come close to this sound, I'll be a happy camper.

AHDN and BFS are musts in stereo, BFS particularly has a great sounding stereo mix.

Not to mention what he did to 'Sessions'. It's not as if he even worked on the majority of their recordings. He certainly doesn't seem to have a high opinion of anyone else's work with them. Geoff Emerick doesn't automatically mean Beatles.

Another one just went for £140, so a bit of consistency there.

He did not object to Beatles for Sale in stereo, or even A Hard Day's Night. He only objected to the first two. But the first four CD's were released as a set, and what he told EMI when they played him stereo mixes of the first four, as a courtesy (he had not been brought in to redo them) was that they should put out the first two in mono and that if they wanted to do AHDN and BFS in stereo, they should be remixed -- not because he didn't like the mixes, but because he thought the mixes would benefit from being recreated specifically for CD from the four tracks, since mixes made for vinyl were done with the characteristics of vinyl in mind.

That's more a reaction to the really hardcore fans and the endless Beatles threads than the actual Beatles release itself. I'm fully expecting a "Do you think Yoko will trim her toenails on 09-09-09?" thread any time now.

I think she will trim her toenails, but will not shave her armpits or legs.

I don't believe Martin ever "preferred" the stereo Rubber Soul over the mono mix. All Martin ever said or says is how he and everyone else involved favored mono at the time.
