Though the Aqualung surround mix is enjoyable to me, the TAAB surround mix is not as enjoyable as the original 2 channel mix for my taste. The flat transfer of the original mix is my preferred version on this new set.

The set I received also has the defects on the surround mix.

My question is why the "yeah" would be missing. You'd think they would have known it was on there. Did anyone mention it to the label?

As the final 'yeah' is missing on the 25th Anniversary remaster, it would be interesting to compare it to the "flat transfer".
Several people have already indicated that they think they sound very much alike.
Wouldn't it be surprising if they just used the 1998 remaster as this "flat transfer from the analogue master tapes"?...

I cancelled my order for this since amazon still hadnt shipped it as of last night. The reviews have been underwhelming so far. I may just stick with the MOFI.

  9. But it's got a nice glossy book! :D

    Amazon does.

I got my copy yesterday and no surprise, it has the glitches on both the DTS and DD versions.

I contacted Amazon and they said they HAVE to send me a replacement
which they and I suspect will have the same problem.
On Monday (when its due to arrive), they will contact me again
to confirm and then start the process of how to fix the problem.

    Hopefully we'll get fixed versions.
But so far, Amazon seems very serious about getting it right (if they can).

Another reason to wait. If they correct the problem I will buy it.

After indulging in the new TAAB, then playing the 25th... I find the MFSL to be of comfort. :D

Really hope there will be a separate CD only release, with a proper remaster. This time with more drums and dynamics. Then it will be killer and it will make justice to TAAB

In my haste to play, I didn't take the time to give it a wash and TAAB1 had a fair amount of static. Gave it a cleaning and the second play, which I'm now, is much better. This is also the first time I'm hearing TAAB2. I initially thought it would be a little cheezy, but not so at all. It's actually a nice compliment for TAAB1. Still early but like the set so far. More plays to go.....

No static on mine, so didn't have to run them through the VPI. The new mix on the TAAB lp sounds really good to me. Very quiet vinyl.

I've listened to TAAB 2 on CD mostly in my car, but the LP sounds fine also...but not much differs from the cd.

My only issue with the set is that the spine doesn't match up with the spine for the Aqualung box.

Listened to the stereo mix and the flat transfer. I perfer the new mix. The flat transfer (original mix) has more dynamic range (and stuff is going on above 22 kHz so it must be a new transfer as advertised). This new mix is more "vibrant/punchy" than the old one.

Yeah, it is a bummer having just played my DVD today. Aggravating glitches, and, yes, way too bright. Such a drag. QC is just wretched with EMI. Such contempt for their customers.

Not to mention the spine seems to infer that TAAB2 is a Tull release, not an Ian Anderson one...

Hardly surprising - practically every Tull reissue is different packaging than what came before. There's never any consistency. Minor complaint I guess, but also frustrating (at least to me).

I don't get it. The price at amazon.ca is back to $26.29 for this set, yet they haven't shipped any of the previous orders (apparently)

Same thing for the David Bowie EMI reissues. They ALL have different packaging. Baffling.

If you can hear the gitches in the surround mix, what channel <s> are they in? I couldn't hear them.

I didn notice the final "yeah" being missing, but I can somehow live with that.

The glitches I heard are on the vocals, so centre channel.
