It is my favorite Elton album of all-time. Both the new SACD's and DVDA's of "Road" sound great. The MFSL was no slouch either.

You can't go wrong with any of these versions.

John, It is a great Elton album no doubt, but I am torn whether I rank it first of his albums or Tumbleweed Connection. What a great debate to have. :righton:

Correct; I'm speaking of the MoFi gold cd, a super flat transfer of the original master mixes.

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

I still favor the US DJM 2 disc clone.

Gosh, Steve, now I just HAVE to get the Mo-Fi gold CD of ROAD and repeat my DVD-A / CD comparison.

Do you know if the "Tumbleweed Connection" gold CD is also a flat transfer from the original master mixes?

Steve, was it hard getting "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" to sound as amazing as it does on the DCC Greatest Hits? Wow!

Alright, I've got the MoFi UD2 - can someone give a rundown on the differences between that one and the UD1?

I had to bring this old thread up. I got the "GYBR" SACD today from BMG. I like this very much. A little bright in places, when I bring up the volume in spots. But nothing drastic. Funny thing, there's 8 songs on disc one. When I put the second disc in, the first song on the second disc starts at 9! I never seen this before, on any other multi-disc set.

Joe, I have the 3 disc set (2 SACD's and 1 DVD) GYBR from Univ. It does the same thing on disc two. I do not think it is a big deal, I think I can do the same thing when I burn CD-R's on my Masterlink.

Actually, I think it's kind of neat! Of all the multi-disc sets I have, not one is programed like this.

I just picked up the GYBR MFSL Gold CD last Sunday at record convention and it sounds superb. I passed (thus far) on the SACD because the title track on the Rolling Stone sampler sounded bright as hell.

I agree! The MoFi has a nice warm sound to it. :)
