    I would think once big websites start listing the item, like we have seen, it's a pretty good indication that something is planned.

    I believed right from the announcement and release of the 2009 remasters that they would of course release these also on vinyl, why put such a huge expectations and an opportunity waste?
    Since theres so much demand for these?

    Im really looking forward to these since have only the 80's master Abbey Road on vinyl (besides stereo and mono boxsets on cd).
    I could have bought various editions already during my record-collecting days but I want full collection of The Beatles on vinyl and from same pressings. I want them to be as good and pristine as possible.
    Local recordshop-seller told me that its too much of an patchwork if one has one album from certain pressing/country and the other from certain else etc.

    So I will only buy this set on vinyl nothing else:winkgrin: Unless, I happen to find some really good rare stuff etc.

    I have a question and please forgive my ignorance.

    Should the stereo box be cut from high resoultion digital masters, do you think the same EQ moves will be applied to the vinyl remasters as they were to the CDs?

    Will the vinyl box be geared more towards the audiophile community rather than the "masses"?

    You can't use the same EQ settings for vinyl and cd. For a start you have to adjust it for the RIAA curve.

    Not so. The cutting equipment takes care of that. Any EQ the mastering engineer applies has nothing directly to do with RIAA curve. He does have to take it into consideration for things like not boosting the treble excessively because the RIAA curve also boosts treble and the combination of the two might be too much for the cutting head, etc., but he or she doesn't apply the RIAA curve per se.

    Ah, thanks, I had thought this was done 'by hand' so to speak.

    Analogue versus digital cutting

    I would vote for a complete analogue cut from tapes only in the case when all the re-mastering processes will be also analogue (EQ, compression/limiting, noise reduction?), but it will probably increase costs of the whole box if done really thoroughly and with maximum possible quality.

    If there should be any digital processing anywhere in the chain from the original tapes to the cutting lathe in Abbey Road Studios (I suppose they will be chosen for cutting of master plates), I strongly vote for the cutting from high-res digital sources from their DAW with only one D/A conversion at the end of chain just before the lathe.

    I think that the quality of records and their sound will be more important for most people than all the analogue X digital stuff.
    I hope the remastered records will be released soon because I am a big fan of the band too :love:

    I agree with you, Jiri, but I doubt that's what we'll see since the chain they used for the 2009 remasters was:

    Master tapes of individual tracks->
    A/D->
    24/192 for glitch removal and archiving ->
    D/A->
    analog console at Abbey Road for mastering EQ, level adjustment, etc.->
    A/D->
    24/44.1 for compiling the albums, digital limiting, dither, conversion to 16-bit

    Item is NO LONGER listed with JPC!!

    This does not necessarily mean that the release has been withdrawn!

    Most likely said company had to delist the box on the insistence of EMI for bringing the secret into the open.

    Woohoo! That's some enticing news.

    I interpret the absence of Mono Masters in the list (a list that includes Past Masters) as an indicator that the only way to get the mono catalog is via the mono box set.

    I don't know, but I can't figure out why everyone is jumping for joy already. This announcement doesn't seem any more promising than some of the other unofficial announcements we've seen thus far...
