I recently picked up Loggins and Messina s/t (CK31748) and was wondering if this is a flat transfer. This cd sounds fantastic! Sounds natural for lack of a better word. It certainly doesn't sound like it has had the current remaster treatment.

Btw, this looks like an original issue (by that I mean nothing fancy on the back cover, just info and a barcode) + it has a Nice Price sticker on it if that helps.

If anyone has any info I would appreciate it!

    Thanks!

Yeah, I have that album on the standard domestic issue disc and the sound is very good.

    @BUMP@

I really would like to know if this is a flat transfer. I just can't get over how good it sounds. Hopefully this thread won't sink like a stone this time! (maybe I should say Macca played on it) LOL

Get the MoFi silver CD. That is a flat transfer. Compare the two. Then, you'll know...

One was sold here a few daze ago...

Beats me. I've seen other questions like this answered. Maybe Steve would know?

I only own one Mo-Fi silver. Joe Walsh Barnstorm. That one sounds excellent. Is the loggins and messina silver disc hard to come by? Anyone, anyone....:D

    steve,

    different album.

the mofi is "kenny loggins with jim messina sittin in". (danny's song)

he is talking about "loggins & messina" (self titled) (your mama don't dance)

There's also a Full Sail MoFi gold disc...also, for Sittin' In , there's a MoFi silver and a Mastersound gold. I'd be interested in hearing which one Steve prefers...

    Renny,

Really? The second album is an S/T? Never knew that. Not very well recorded album though (as compared to the first one); mucho compression.

I'm sure the original CD is respectable sounding; it was mastered before all the bad stuff started happening to the sound.

    yes sir.

the first album was going to be a kenny loggins solo album after his band gatorcreek broke up. messina was to produce and ended up playing on the whole thing.......the rest is, as they say, history!

Yes, that's coming back to me now. That's why Jim's name is smaller on the cover, right?

    yes sir again.

that's also why it's ...."with jim messina sittin in"

you could actually say that it's a self-titled kenny loggins album, with......

over time it just became the first loggins & messina album.

so, technically, you are right, the S/T is the first real loggins & messina album.

    phew!!

    renny

p.s never really dissected it that way before, interesting.
