I'm assuming most of you knew about this site; but if not it's a lot of fun to read through it and then try to hear the mistakes once you know about them! :)

Paul - just in case you don't have this site bookmarked:
The Usenet Guide to Beatles Recording Variations . It documents the differences in the various UK, US, CD, LP, etc. releases of recordings by The Beatles. Many of us refer to it frequently.

Hmmm.....I always thought it was just his feet.

  6. Some of the differences listed on this site
were by SH chalked up to mere variations in
    mastering/tape gen/compression.

It was in an OOOOOLD thread. Good luck finding it.

Actually Dave, you are correct and the source material is wrong. Apart from my inside knowledge of the recording, which, due to the occurrence of more frequent senior moments, could be disputed, there are enough out-takes available of the recording of Blackbird that when listened to prove that either it was Paul's foot or a mind controlled metronome that stops and starts whenever Paul thinks about it.

    Cheers.

Send an email to the webmaster and tell them the error- I'm sure he'll correct it. :)

Thanks for the links. I will have to bookmark this and read this over when I get a little more time.

Yep. Watch any video of McCartney playing an acoustic guitar, and he keeps time by tapping his feet in an alternating pattern -- left, right, left, right. That's why the odd beats differ from the even ones.

Thanks Mr Scott. Never made sense why Paul would even need a metronome.

Those two sites are definitely worth a look. I think I wasted an eight hour work day on them both. Fascinating.
