MLP SACD printing problem (superficial, in my case)

Those who are receiving the Mercury Living Presence SACDs from YourMusic.com (the Janis/Dorati - Moussorgsky: Pictures in particular) might want to be on the lookout for a printing problem on the label side of the SACD discs themselves for two titles. Both of these SACD discs have the same text on the label:

    Starker - Schumann: Cello Concerto
    Janis/Dorati - Moussorgsky: Pictures

On both SACD disc labels, the printed text refers to the Schumann disc's program. Therefore, the Moussorgsky: Pictures disc is misprinted and incorrectly refers to the Schumann program.

The good news (YMMV): I have checked all three layers of each of these discs (the 2-ch and 3-ch SACD layers, as well as 2-ch redbook), and all the layers contain the correct music.

So it's just a superficial difference. Not worth sending the Moussorgsky: Pictures disc back for a replacement, in my opinion. To help you avoid mixing the two discs up, I have noticed that the shade of blue is different between the two discs, and the differing shades of blue match the rest of the color theme of the artwork for the respective disc. In my case, the Schumann case/disc's artwork is a darker shade of blue than the Moussorgsky case/disc.

This week I received the Leroy Anderson and Tchaikovsky The Nutcracker Living Stereo sacds. I went through the "out of stock/backordered" route, but finally got them after reordering.

Received the Billy Joel and Springsteen box sets today. If anyone is interested, there is no record club bar code on them (They are normally marked).

ya know, I don't get it. I joined a couple days ago and ordered 5 CDs. I wasn't hip to the queue thing, assumed I had a while to make a selection to be queued since I started off with a purchase. Anyway, today I get a notice that my 5 CDs have shipped (cool) and that a duplicate of one of the 5 has shipped and was billed from my queue! Why would they place a duplicate of one of my 5 in my queue, and essentially double-ship and double-bill me? I sent an e-mail 2 days ago about this and have had no response. :realmad:

Yep, it's all about the queue. Keep your queue filled or they'll charge you $5.99/month for nothing until you cancel your membership. You should be thankful that they sent you something for your $5.99 monthly queue charge. Since it's a duplicate you can go sell it on Half.com or at a local used CD shop and get most if not all of your $5.99 back.

Haven't gotten the 2SACD MLP yet. Should be on the way. CD cases are the regular redbook black tray kind and has the BMG barcode. Disks look pretty cool.

well.. I would assume that if they require you to queue something and charge you $5.99 for it, and you place an order for 5 items at $5.99 and have nothing in the queue, they should default one of the five to the queue to fulfill that obligation and ship and bill what you want accordingly. We'll see what happens.

I certainly wouldn't fault yourmusic for this. But if you e-mail them, maybe they'll work something out for you. But at worst, it's a $5.99 lesson learned--not such a big deal. Botton line--always keep stuff in your queue. I have about 30 items in my queue, but still order outside of the queue regularly.

What are the names of the 5 titles? Are these older recordings like the RCA Living Stereo series?

    That's the one I ordered...

That sound clip for that "with typewriters" song just hooked me in. :agree: It sounds "fun." :)

I'm getting better about holding off until yourmusic.com picks things up!

Just noticed the two-disc Stooges Deluxes Editions just got added. Of course, you can't put multi-disc selections in your queue, but they went straight in my cart.

Also saw the John Mellencamp remasters, up through WHENEVER WE WANTED. To be honest, I think the "old" CDs sounded pretty good -- BIG DADDY's a personal favorite -- so unless I hear about a significant sonic upgrade, I'll probably stick with my WORDS & MUSIC comp and the original issues of the albums I thought that very good comp didn't render dispensible.
