Just picked these up earlier and am listening....

The Reiner Respighi Pines of Rome and Debussy/LaMer are outstanding.

    I also purchased:
    Rubinstein Beethoven Sonatas
Copland Bill The Kid Rodeo and Groff Grand Canyon Suite
Heifetz Scottish Fantasy Concerto No. 1, Vieuxtemps Concerto No. 5

I will have more comments later but it appears SoundMirror has excelled again. :righton:

Ahhh thanks. Did they do all the LS SACDs? Or just this 4th batch?

I have 6 on order. I will pick up the other 4 (that I am not quite as interested in; Russian Pops, Vienna, Lanza and Copland) no doubt in-store whenever they show up. I have to have all 40 of course :) so I'm not sure how long I am going to leave it before picking those 4 up as well. I'm a completest when it comes to something this good.

They've done all the Living Stereo's thus far. So the excellence of these latest comes as no real surprise. Can't wait for my copies to arrive.

    Guy,

I think you'll find Vienna to be better than anticipated. At least I'm looking forward to it.

I can't say they're a favorite of mine. "Genial" might be one way of describing his approach. I find them less than intense. Personally.

Picked up Respighi and Vienna. Listening to Vienna now. Please, don't sell this one short just because it has populist appeal. These are brilliant recordings of wonderful music no matter how you slice it.

That is my plan as well. I must be carefull to not buy ones I already bought. I've already done that once. :shake:

Do you mean you bought hybrid versions of ones you already owned on Redbook, or you accidentally bought two copies of the hybrid versions?

If it's the latter, I'll gladly PM you my mailing address. :righton:

Pines of Rome is awesome! Track 9 is breathtaking. I think I've listened to it about 4 times in a row :D

There's a great article in Issue 40 of hi-fi+ magazine on the mastering of these RCA Living Stereo SACDs at Sound/Mirror Studio in Boston.

I've bought several of the same hybrid. I think I only did this once, but with so many titles I need to take a list to the store with me. :D

I'm also very eager to hear these new Living Stereo SACD releases and I'm also particularly want to see any review on the newly-released Mario Lanza's old Living Stereo recording on SACD.

  24. Doug, is there a brick and mortar store near us that sells these? It's been a loooooooooong time since I've bought classical, so I'm not too wise on the stores that carry these.
