Since the filename is "LedShep", I'd be suspicious. :agree:

It's a Photoshop job. The real target is teal green.

Looks exactly like a WG LZ IV Target except for the green face being red. Could be a Japan Target or a photoshop.

I looked on Ralph's target cd page, but the Led Zep IV link is broken.
I think 'made in Japan' was also shopped onto it.
I named the file Led Shep.

Forum members' favorite cds, even preferred over DCC Gold cds.
No, they're very early cds, made in either West Germany or Japan, with a few made elsewhere.
You'll notice that they have design which looks like a target. Some also have very nice sound quality as there wasn't a whole bunch of futzing with equalization. I suppose master tapes were often used.
Others know more about them than I do.

I don't know Rob... I believe that we, SH Forum members, coined the term "Target CD" because of the cross-hairs like looking down a rifle scope. Definitely preferred versions because of a lot truly analog sourced unmanipulated pressings.

This looks exactly like my Japanese Target except that under the Atlantic logo, mine has a catalog number of 250 008. See:

I found a green target HOUSES OF THE HOLY yesterday at a used store. Does take some of the sting out of Dave snagging that HUNKY DORY RCA earlier today... :p

    Very cool Kevin!

There aren't many Targets that have a different color scheme between the WG and Japan pressings.

Lucky man! The "House of the Holy" Target is on my short list right now. It will show up some day, I'm sure. :)

Nice score! HOTH is one of the better sounding target CDs. :righton:

Can't help you on the other issue, except to tell you I have been there before too... :D

Anyone have an idea how rare a King Crimson Three of a Perfect Pair Target is and what its value is these days?

    Edit: WG E'G (Warner) 9 25071-2

According to http://www.elephant-talk.com/discog/fripp/indexk.html, it appears to be THE first pressing. It sounds good (haven't A-Bed it), but am curious how rare it is.

My LZ IV is also a Japanese target exactly like Kevin's with the "250 008" catalog number under the Atlantic logo.

I should hope so!!! I bought it in the early 80's along with this one and The Eagles' "On The Border" which I can't seem to find at the moment.

If this red target is real, this is a major find. I have never seen or heard of this variation. Is there a red HOTH too?

Ralph are you following this thread...

How about an A/B of the Japanese target and West German target?

I'm sure these Zeppelin IV targets are real. A couple Sadao Watanabe targets just like it have also been identified. I have one of the Watanabe targets.

How does this compare to the 'target' label? I bought this back in the early 80's. It was the first cd that I ever bought. Even before I owned a cd player. :)

..or this?? Are these also comparable to the 'target' labels??

Pardon the crappy scan. Note that some of the letters at the end of the titles are 'up' a little over the others. This is not on the cd. I think my scanner freaked at the moire type effect of the label. :)
