I saw Mark Lindsey at one of the Happy Together tours a few years ago and he was really good. I loved those guys back then. Great records cool band. I still play their stuff once in a while.

I really like Muddy Waters "The Folk Singer" - great album of well executed reverb and echo with all musicians placed in 3D. The first track in particular has snare way over to left, like some kinda audio parlour trick.

Just my humble two cents from european perspective: anyone interested in music knows Bowie round here, his songs have been used in many movies and he’s an icon. Even my 11 and 9 years old daughters know Bowie cause Changes have been used in Shrek...

Exactly. You can’t measure by chart success as the Dead never really tried to be a “pop” band. If you go by historical importance, fanbase and cultural influence then the Grateful Dead are definitely as big or bigger in the US.
