Anything comparing a heart to a lock and a key, or someone having the key to ones heart, or having a locked heart that needs a key. Also I've been noticing the concept of someone needing "lovin" more than important life-sustaining things such as sleep and air.
References to "Good Old Boys/Making noise" or "Climb the Highest Mountain/Swim the Deepest Sea" or Somebody's arms sheltering the other person from the storm
Rhyming car and bar 'We would pick a decade / We wished we could live in instead of this / I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists' laughably bad Too many artists also rhyme Mind and Time
I hate these sorts of threads because…. They’re always driving me insane So I’ll go out walking in the rain To remind me of the pain And how I’ll never be the same Since you left me yesterday And blew out our love’s flame So I’ll say it once again Rain, plane, flame, train, crane, insane So please can you refrain From ever posting them again! Cos we’ll all know who’s to blame When the lyrics turn out lame
Rhyming trance with chance. Abba - 'I was in a trance, when I kissed the teacher, suddenly I took the chance' Morrissey - 'I lay awake in a trance, oh I just want my chance'
"I like to rock" "Are you ready to rock" "Rock and roll all night" "Let's rock" etc..... (and yes, I'm well aware of the irony of someone with my user name criticizing those types of lyrics, so don't bother pointing it out)
School/golden rule/cruel Baby/maybe/(I don't mean) maybe the phrase 'river of tears' - used by Dylan (once) and by Clapton in a song title. Once I'm alerted to imperfect rhymes, I can't unheard them. Sadly, this includes the one in Wichita Lineman.
