It's a glorified History Channel documentary. And if I honest, I think I would have prefer it. I remember seeing a docu about the failed Apollo 13 mission, which I thought was a lot more tense than that Tom Hanks vehicle, so it can be done.
Does one really have to state the obvious? The name of the film is OPPENHEIMER, not The Trinity Test or The Manhattan Project. There are many fine performances and great film making.
Out of the 32 Marvel movies that you first claimed “many” were over three hours, only 1 was. Now it’s plenty at 2 1/2 hours, actually only 3 of those 32 movies hit that mark officially. So I guess you can keep revising your claims until they become true at some point. I still see zero similarities between Marvel superhero movies and Oppenheimer.
Kubrick must be rolling in his grave. Lol. But I do like Nolan's attempts to bring something new to art. I don't think it works for the most part.
On a positive note, I thought that Downey Jr. was excellent in his role. I don't follow the Oscars, but I hope he was at least nominated for supporting actor if he didn't actually win it.
Would it possible to make some of the 2 1/2 films 3 hours? Are many of the Marvel films heavily edited to allow for more theatrical showings? It just makes me wonder ...... that when the bubble bursts .... will we be inundated with extended versions of them all?
I watched it this weekend. It was a good movie. My only complaints would be the sheer number of characters and names that were dropped. it was hard to keep up with all the minor characters. Also the jumping back and forth in time got a bit difficult. All in all, good.
Rest easy…..he deservedly won. I think it picked up 7 Oscars in total, including Picture and Director, and Best Actor.
