Tull hasn't announced their autumn 2010 tour schedule yet, but there's a good chance there will be a west coast swing then. They've done this before.

yea but i hope its w/ Procol

  6. Don't cry too hard. I have missed a Tull gig in '96 where Emerson, Lake & Palmer were opening... and that outdoor, summer gig was on a friggin' fairground... and my wife and kids could have attended!! As if that weren't enough: I don't even remember the reason why I missed it...

That 1993 tour with Procol Harum was OUTSTANDING. I've seen Tull several times since then and unfortunately I just haven't been as impressed.

  8. I saw that tour (in Toronto). ELPs set was pretty short, but good. Seeing them in an amusement park, in daylight, with roller coasters roaring all around - not so good.

  9. This is precisely the part the picture I romanticize, with Tull playing Big Dipper! (...Did they?)

I already have tickets to the Toronto show. Woo-hoo! As in 1993, I'll probably leave after Procol Harum's set.

I'd like to see Tull (I have tickets for the Jones Beach and Holmdel, NJ shows) but I'd rather they'd be opening for Procol Harum rather than vice versa.

Procol has a solo gig scheduled at Tarrytown, NY (6/10) and another show in which Renaissance will open for them - Longwood Gardens, PA (6/16).

This is a link to their concert schedule. Currently no shows scheduled for west of Chicago (unless one takes a roundabout route to Finland):

I agree 100%. The Procol in 1993 was great. Tull is OK but pretty overblown.

Apparently Gary Brooker is the only original member (I haven't even heard of the other people in the band now.) Too bad he and Matthew Fisher can't put aside their differences, and then get Robin Trower for one more go-round. So think of it as a Gary Brooker show, with him playing PH tunes - still should be pretty good.

How many original members does Jethro Tull still have?

Geoff Whitehorn has been the Procol guitarist since 1992, Matt Pegg has been on bass since 1993.

The last time Procol has toured with both Fisher and Trower was 1969. There've been many great shows since then.

i was hoping for a saratoga performing arts center date but i would sure take a procol only show in my area. i sent a note to the keeper of the beyond the pale site giving a link to a great venue procol could do if they could squeeze it in. i've seen several great shows by them since their 1991 return.

I saw them in '92 and again about 7 or 8 years ago, and they were excellent both times. They did have Matthew Fisher with them then, but no other original members. I just only remember the names of the "classic" lineup. Should be a good show.

Though it is too bad Robin Trower won't tour with them again. I saw him solo a couple of years ago, and he's still at the top of his game. (Not to imply that Geoff Whitehorn isn't doing a fine job in his place.)

Just Ian Anderson, but Martin Barre has been with them since the second album.
The original members are on speaking terms, though, and have put on at least one reunion concert.

A Friend saw them in Torquay the other night and was pretty impressed that Ian Anderson can still play the flute standing on one leg! :)

Won't the abscence of Fisher have a pretty sizable impact on the overall sound though?
I have an opportunity to see them and have wanted to for years but, with just Brooker, I don't know.

Well, they have another organist now (Josh Phillips) as they did back when they had Chris Copping and Pete Solley.

Fisher's absence is more likely to have an impact on future albums (one is supposed to be released this year). It remains to be seen, or heard, what, if anything, Phillips will contribute in the songwriting area. But he does fine as far as their live shows are concerned.

It would be nice to have Fisher. But they did put out at least two excellent albums without him - "Home" and "Broken Barricades".
