I restrict my collection to records where every track is strong. No filler. Here's a few unusual choices, from my collection, of 'perfect' records:

Henry "Red" Allen: Ridin' with Red, RCA "X" Label 10" LP. Try to find some of the original 78's too. "I ain't got no bread, but I can give you some meat!"

Cachao: Jam Sessions in Miniature. Panart LP.

Lightnin' Hopkins: Mojo Hand, Fire. Try to find the P-Vine LP or CD, all else sounds like crap. Also look for the Herald LP while you're at it.

Art Pepper: Art of Pepper, Vols I and II, Omega reel to reel tape. Also look for the various Japanese reissues on vinyl. This is the real deal, folks, as good as it gets. This should get a top notch audiophile reissue.

Mugsy Spanier: The Great 16, RCA Black and White LP (French). I have a friend who pretty much likes every record I suggest to her, except this one. I dunno, I just love it and I have since reading about it in the Penguin Guide years ago. Don't bother with any other issue of this material. Even the original 78's sound inferior. Apparently, they used original metal parts to make this issue. It can usually be found for not much more than a buck.

I can't list any "perfect album". If there would be one close to that, I'd say The Dark Side Of The Moon

No, we're talking about perfect records here: every song on the album flawless, and a perfect listen all the way through both sides. :)

Perfect in describing music is hopeless subjective.

Right, and you listed 6 Beatles records. In my book, the only "perfect" Beatle album is Rubber Soul, and even that one has Run for Your Life, which some people find less than perfect. All their records, not matter how good, have 1 or 2 average or bad songs on them. Take, for example the White Album. Not a clunker at all? Really? Even Revolution #9? In my mind, not only is this record not perfect, it is a mess. Parts are great and parts are not very good.

Does that make you wrong and me right or vice versa? Not really. You find The White Album Perfect, I am left scratching my head wondering why some people think it is so great.

I love Pet Sounds, it leaves others cold. Same with Astral Weeks.

I once played Kind of Blue for an old friend who wasn't too into jazz. He found it boring.

    Different strokes, right?
