I'd Have You Anytime - George Harrison

Ships in the Night - Jack Bruce

Both great, mellow solos (although I guess the Harrison track is more so lead phrases than an actual "solo". Still like it).

What about Ringo Starr's With or Without You? It bothers me too that they made a video and show another guitar player syncing with the solo, when Ringo even mentions Eric by name!

Dave Mason - Look at You, Look at Me

Clapton is not credited for playing on this track, but the magnificent guitar solo at the end of this track leaves litte room for doubt.

Yeah, "I Don't Want To Discuss It" - Clapton really tears it up. The folks around
him during this time really lit a fire under him! :righton:

That’s the song I’d choose. Plus the remainder of his lead guitar playing all over the All Things Must Pass album.

Another vote too for the Howlin Wolf London Sessions album.

Dave Mason – Shouldn’t Have Took More Than You Gave

Thats the ones I can remember off the top of my head, there'll prob be more later.

Although the new liner notes on the RPM release of Dave Mason's Alone Together state that Eric plays on the album, I have never been convinced. Eric does not remember, and Dave Mason told me Eric was not on the album.

I have to admit that the solo is very Clapton-like, but I think it is Mason playing.

I have read vehement claims that Clapton played the solo on this song, as well as equally vehement denials. It is an amazing piece of guitar playing, no matter who played it. If Dave Mason played it, he never came close to equally it before or after. I assumed it was Mason for decades, but when I first read that EC played it, I listened with fresh ears, and can certainly hear it as a Clapton solo, but quite unique among his recorded works.

Can anybody cite a definitive source that will settle this question once and for all!?

Hmm, I would like to know as well. My assumption that it was Clapton was based solely on the many rumours that have been circulating for years and the fact that the solo is so Clapton-like. It is interesting to learn that on the one hand Mason denies Clapton played on the album while on the other hand the new liner notes on the RPM release state that Clapton was involved. I would expect that Mason was involved with preparing the liner notes or at least read the liner notes before the RPM reissue was released, but who knows...

I 'only' have the MFSL which does not credit Clapton and, by the way, sounds totally awesome!!

Eric gets a great dirty sound on Lennon's "Cold Turkey".

Also, he lets loose on some of the golden oldies for the Live Peace In Toronto album.

Did the reissue for "All Things Must Pass" have definitive information
about what songs featured what musicians?

I know Bobby Whitlock provided a lot of information in his long thread,
much of it about the "All Things Must Pass" album.

I didn't go through Bobby Whitlocks' posts with a fine tooth comb but
I know Marc Roberty showed up and I assume he probably did (and/or
asked some follow-up questions to Mr. Whitlock).

For what it's worth, I have a LONG list of songs Eric Clapton played on
that I've been trying to keep up to date.

Basically my list started with Marc Roberty's books. But I have
had to add a lot on my own (mostly from the period after Marc's books
    were published).

I did not have "I'd Have You Anytime" listed as a Clapton track
(probably because Marc Roberty didn't list it).

I can definetly agree that it SOUNDS like Eric - but I think my
assumption prior to your post was that it was George.

The only difinitive source I have are my ears, it is not Clapton. Give Dave Mason some credit! There are some licks that are clearly not Eric's style. I think it's the wah wah that might make someone think it's Clapton. It's not always remembered, Dave Mason was part of Derek and the Dominos, for the very first gigs.

I saw him just after Alone Together came out. He was the real deal. He had a good little band, and the Pointer Sisters singing back up. He played plenty of great guitar. I seem to remember a hot version of All Along The Watchtower was part of the set.
