    Just got my copy.

It' a needle drop (ticks and pops still intact), it's been EQ'd to have some major midrange suck out and the level has been pumped up so the digital levels are almost constantly going into overs (no digital limiting just digital clipping, )

Save your money and buy a nice LP for $1. Any needle drop will absolutely kill this CD!

    This sucks! :realmad:

Now I don't feel so bad about springing for that mint Japanese vinyl of Animation on ebay a few weeks ago. My domestic Atlantic sounds like crap.

I will buy the cd though If I can find it cheaper because of the bonus tracks. How are they anyway?

So at least that explains why it's taken so long for it to appear on CD.

UNBELIEVEABLE!!!. And Jon Anderson was signing autographs for limited release.

How can he let this happen? Did the booklet make any mention who was involved in the restoration? Doubt it since Jamie notes what a terrible sounding this disc is.

Thanks for the heads up, you just saved me some good money. :righton:

Thanks! I already have a needledrop on CD-R that sounds nice.
    Sorry Jon.
Pity though, it had the potential to be a great sounding CD.

Several people have asked if I would post some clips. Here you go.

-The first section is a needle drop I did of the US vinyl.
-Then the same section of the remaster. Notice the heavy handed EQ, the distortion, excessive compression and narrowed stereo image. It just sounds hollow to me.

-The next section has my needle drop and then the remaster. The remaster is sourced from a needle drop. Listen for the tracking error on the second clip. The sibilance is distorted and you can hear groove damage from the worn record.

-Then I have just a piece of the remaster that still has the crackles from the LP. :pineapple:

    Enjoy! :D
