Here's a picture:

These usually sell for $10-25 per pair and are marketed as all-weather or outdoor speakers. I've seen them produced under the Dual and Insignia name brands as well. They even include mounting brackets, rubber feet, and speaker wire.
Obviously, my expectations were low, but when I actually took the time to listen to these things, they weren't half bad!
I figure that all speakers add their own colorations to sound anyway, and I found that the colorations that these guys produce are certainly as tolerable as those made much more expensive speakers. In fact, I would go so far as to say that with some appropriate EQ'ing, I could be quite content listening to these for some time. Certainly, there's really no bass to speak of, but if you were to use these in a HT setup where you had all the bass crossed over to a sub, even their 40-watt limit wouldn't be too big of an issue. For the $, I think someone on a budget could do a lot worse than to outfit an entire surround-sound setup with these. And FWIW, the folks on audioreview.com have given them high praise as well.
Has anyone ever had any experience with these? Maybe these won't ever fall into the "giant-killer" category, but I just thought that they were worthy of some positive notoriety.
