At our church we have a Schulmerich carillon bell system which is basicaly a giant tape player. Today I cleaned what I think is called the pinch roller, the one that moves the tape across the head. My question(s).

1 - What is the best thing to clean them with? It's a hard brown rubber. ( I used head cleaner and then was reminded/remembered that it dries them out.

2 - Is there something that can be used to rejuvenate the roller?

3 - Does anyone still make lubricant for the heads and other non moving parts?

Larry,

I don't know. I never use the stuff (since my rubber rollers are still supple). :)

I bet Kevin Gray would know. Give him an Email (click on Record Technology on my homepage), or I will ask him when I see him next..

Yes, do not put denatured Alcohol on the pinch rollers. You'll dry them out quicker than Mariah Carey on a breezy morning television shoot.

Try this stuff! (http://www.athan.com/cgi-local/store.cgi?sid=50922072064&product=1171)

No problem. I am sure there are others that can help here too.

I use the stuff that I mentioned on the cart machines at the station and the reel to reel I have here at the house. I have been pleased with it.
