Forgot to mention: apparently there are actually gooves you can feel (at least on top, dunno about the bottom).

And forgive me all, for I couldn't help myself: I just ordered a box of 10 from buy.com ($6.50/box). I'll let you know if they are spiffy or lame.

I saw them at Target as well, but those of us with stand-alone CD burners are SOL!:mad: Unless there's an "audio" version out there, I haven't seen 'em.

That Mc Cartney disc is strictly CD, no grooves :(

It's from the UK 2 disc set which features the album and a separate interview disc with Macca talking about how he made the Run Devil Run album.

So my order arrived!

Pros:

They do look pretty neat. Not quite as cool as the photo above makes them out to be, but pretty cool none-the-less.

The "top coat" of black plastic looks very thick - probably a really sollit protection of the data.

Cons:
As seen in the pix above, there's no place to write anything! I was hoping for some stick on labels, but nope - nothing.

The text on the bottom that says "vinyl cdr" looks like "viny/cdr". My brother said "who's viny?" when he saw them. :)

HZ. I bought some this morning. You're right, they don't looks as cool as the (probably touvhed-up) photo makes them out to be.

But, they are fun.

I saw these at the Philadelphia Record Expo this year. The dealer that had them had them way overpriced. I recall it just being a painted surface on the backside with light grooves in it to imitate a record. Still cool nonetheless.

Question.....will those tape a standard CDR label? Or is it desined to not HAVE a label?

Mikey You could slap a label on one, but it probably wouldn't look very pretty, and it may not stick well to the plastic "grooved" area. I like to label my CD-Rs.

You would THINK they would sell the 10 pack with 10 labels .

The upshot is that the label side seems to offer extra protection to the disc. As you may know, the labal side is more vulnerable to damage. You can scratch the play side and it will probably still play flawlessly in sound, but if you scratch a label side, goodbye data!
