I'm hoping to get a subwoofer for my stereo system in the very near future. I have a JVC RX-6010V Amplifier/Receiver. Can you recommend a model or type of subwoofer that will go well with it? Thank you.

I can't recommend anything for the JVC but I'd think one would try to match the speakers as much as possible. Same brand, for example?

Im my case, I have irreplaceable front speakers. To take the DVD-A (or any surround system) plunge, the best I can do is make sure the rear speakers, center channel and sub are the the same manufacturer and are British. I'm thinking of Rega or somethng similar.

Of course, you can tailor the rear / center sound somewhat by interconnects and cables, too. Sounds like an adventure!

Some powered sub woofers have different cards or settings that can help with the sound, too. I can't recommend anything, however.... yet!

What's your budget? My experience is with subs in the $1500-2000 range--like in the REL line, or the ACI Titan. I think something like that might be overkill in a system based around the JVC receiver. You might take alook at SVS subwoofers (www.svsubwoofers.com). The 25-31 PCi goes for about $550, and is supposed to be killer, if you can live with its looks.

I agree; that does make it easy. I added an Axiom sub to my pair of Axiom M3Ti's last spring, and they slid right into the system beautifully and blended in with the M3Ti's with ease.

It's a subwoofer kit. It's a 10" powerful sub from one of the "loudspeaker Cookbook" series. It's a driver, a built cabinet, amp. It's built in 35 minutes, all you need to know is how to use a screwdriver. 24-160hz, 14 1/4 square.
