Even though it's Columbia House and you have to be a member, this seems just too good to be true. I can't imagine them keeping this a CH exclusive for too long. Anybody else know about this?

Questions:
1)Is it avaialable now?
2)Are they edited?

The latter is the big factor..these would have to be complete and unedited to get me to invest.

Wow, how'd they manage the music rights? I always thought that was the biggest hang-up.

Looking at the description, it appears that they are, indeed, the full versions
Here it is. After years of waiting and compilation videos, the incredible Season One of the groundbreaking late night sketch comedy series. Everything you could possibly want is featured in this 8-disc set including all of the episodes in their entirety and as they appeared when they first aired, all of the musical numbers and much more. And don't forget the amazing cast of young soon-to-be superstars that included Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtain and more. Guest host the inaugural season include Rob Reiner, George Carlin, Candice Bergen, Lily Tomlin, Anthony Perkins, Raquel Welch and, in a major coup, Richard Pryor. Columbia House has been stepping up to the plate lately with TV on DVD UNFORTUNATELY!!!...for me, they are the last company I like purchasing from...
Still, it's exciting to get SNL in complete season sets!

Cool - definitely getting this. Been wanting Chevy Chase on SNL on DVD for a long time! Wanted some of his latter-day guest appearances, too, but this is still great.

SO how does Columbia House work? Do I have to make a certain ammount of purchases per month or something? Do they ship internationally? I've read their page, but that's just what they want you to know. Do they still send you titles you don't want if you don't make a selection (like they did to my brother in the 70s)?

This is NOT a Columbia House exclusive. It'll be available everywhere. It just happened that Columbia House was the first to list it.

Great news, I agree, but i think some of you are gonna be disappointed seeing these shows again in their entirety. The first season was pretty rough and inconsistent in spots, and I think nostalgia plays a huge part in how we remember them. There were a lot of dud and now dated sketches even during SNL's "golden years."

A few years ago they were showing the first 3 years on E! or Comedy Central in their complete 1 and 1/2 hour form.
