Indeed things are fishy with power sources :)

...and so are many of our home hifis. And yet people still don't seem to believe that better AC cords and line conditioning can make a difference.

I work in a lab and similar stuff happens with the analytical instruments. Suddenly, the QC starts acting up. The culprit is usually the power supply, which is why all of our critical systems are on UPSs. Also, a LOT of equipment in hospitals are sensitive to cell phones, which is why you should never use one in a hospital (I wonder if this is a problem in Hollywood :D ). There have been a few negative outcomes caused by cell phone usage in hospitals.
