Update: Just got my Mac 240

I just got my Mac 240 and it is probably the most beautiful piece of audio equipment I have ever seen! Much better than the seller described: Perfect chrome and silk screen lettering, near perfect paint ( a VERY small scuff on one of the transformers) and all original Telefunken signal tubes. It currently has Phillips 6l6gc's. I'll be on the lookout for some GE's and RCA's.
The tube cage is even perfect. Makes you wonder why most modern gear (except the Shanling T-100 tube CD player) is such a boring black or silver box!

I'm dying to hook it up but I'm meeting fellow tube-head Jim Mcshane for dinner tonight.

I'll post my listening results as I get them.

Drooool! You'll love those tubes! I certainly do - I had to get old, used stock, but they sound wonderful! :)

Also, the Tele 12AU7's are not everyone's cup of tea; they are quite slow. Keep the Tele 12AX7's and definitely do some tube rolling with the 12AU7's if you wish. The sound will totally change with each different set of those little buggers.

That depends on the rest of your system and your 6L6 output tubes.
