I have my dad's old KA-7100 and KT-5300 tuner. They still work great. I admit that I don't know all that much about stereo equipment. I figured that since he was just going to give it to me, I might as well use it. From what I've been reading online, they are pretty heavy duty. I still see people selling them on eBay. I don't plan to sell mine anytime soon.

Hi,

I once owned one! Very nice sounding. Superbly reliable. Switches and pots were always silent and smooth. Had 40 WPC and drove Small Advent Loudspeakers. Replaced with a Pioneer QX 949 I got in a partial trade with 2 more Small Advents. Cost me $150 to get the receiver and speakers which were mint condition and just serviced. I liked mine, the Quad setup was too nice a deal to pass up. I already had a CD-4 Shure cartridge in my Dual 1225.

Just curious on the opinions of this product.

Wasn't this amp made in the late 70's? I had a Kenwood KA-9100 which I gave away to the Salvation Army.

Sounds about right. 1979, I think. I've found websites selling old user manuals.

Would the Kenwood KA-7100 be good enough for a dual setup of 4 Advent Loudspeakers?

My dad currently uses my old KA-7100 in his 78 setup that I mail ordered brand spankin' new back in 1978.
I was home about a month ago and it's still nice and smooth.
Nice amp. I was tempted to ask for it back.

Gah! Wish that SA was near me (and I knew about it, of course). Great amp.

I concur with all of that. I had a 7100 in the late 70's and l loved it. I believe it had more than 40 watts per channel, though. It had no trouble pushing my Infinty Quantum Juniors to pretty decent levels. Highly recommended.

l sold Kenwood in the late 70's. The KA-7100 sold from 1977-80, 60 watts a channel.

I sold a lot of this model as Sault Ste Marie Ontario didn't have a lot of FM so int amps were popular. IMO very well made int. amp and the power rating and price made it a favourite. I cannot recall anyone ever bringing one back for repair.

The Kenwood KA-9100 integrated amp was the first separate I ever owned. It was a nice amp and 2 notches above the KA-7100.

Would the Kenwood KA-7100 be good enough for a dual setup of 4 Advent Loudspeakers?

I had a pair of 9100's and dual large Advents. I used one amp for the left channel and one for the right channel. Sounded quite good if I remember right. I don't think one 7100 will cut it though for those 4 speakers.

I've got a KA-9100 I'll be selling soon.
It works, sounds good.

Thought about keeping it until I saw what they typically sell for on e-bay.
