Can anyone direct me to the lowest price on the Sont SCD-XA777ES SACD player? I was in contact with Oade Bros. today and they want $1995 shipped to New Jersey (where I live).
Thanks for the help!
David,
That's a sweet deal from Oade. I doubt you'll find a reputable seller offering it for less.

Unfortunately it is about $200 more than I have to spend.
C'mon, David! If you can wrestle up $1800, I'm sure you can pull together another $200. I'm not sure if I'd trust someone offering it for less than $2,000. Oade has very minimal mark-up on their Sony ES line and is a very reputable seller.

I actually called in a debt from my brother to get up to $1800. We share out Beatles collection and I front the $$ to buy "silver" pressed import Cds from "bootland." Our newest addition to the collection came today, a 10 CD box set on the Unicorn label - "Get Back Camera B Rolls Vol. 2 january 22nd - 25th 1969" It is actually volumes 13 through 17 of the "B Rolls"

David, maybe contact J&R and see if you can haggle them down. A client of mine got the XA-777ES for $1799. He talked them down at the store. I think you might have good luck if your aggressive enough because of the holidays...

I've not checked AA but I am wondering if the new Pioneer 45 SACD / DVD / Redbook player for under $500.00 US would sound better than the 777ES?
Just thought I'd mention it!

I just ordered the Sony SCD-C222ES from www. reliableaudiovideo.com for $369. They are selling the SCD-XA777ES for $1,895. I haven't received the player yet, so I can't comment on their service.

Thanks for the tip, Hmmm i wonder how the Sony SCD-C222ES sounds in comparison to my Sony SCD-CE775. The price point of the 222 is affordable, i may have to think about one of these...

These two players are very similar. They both share similar parts. The 222ES is has a bit of a more sturdy build quality and has the ES warranty which I believe is 3-5 years compared to Sony's usual 1 yr. The sound quality on both these players is excellent considering the reasonable cost.
You'd have to go up to the 555ES to get much much better sound especially from Redbook (according to those who own and have compared these players).
I have the 775 and am very happy with it's SACD and Redbook performance so it's really all up to your ears.

The XA77ES is a real value at $1995. Tri-DAC configuration each channel in Stereo.
I bought mine from OADE over a year ago and I'm happy I did. Everything
sounds wonderful. I've never enjoyed music this much. There is no listening
fatique at all. In fact you want to play it more and more. Even Redbook
CD's sound stunning.
OADE is as reliable as you can get.
No other Sony player compares, even after upgrades.
I know I owned the SCD-1 and pumped a bunch of extra bucks into
it.
The XA77ES SACD player is the way to go!
You won't be sorry.

I DID IT!!!!! I just ordered the Sony SCD-XA777ES for Oade for $1995. It should get to me in Jew Jersey by Wednesday the 11th.
Now I really have some questions.
How do I best burn it in? I plan on only using it for SACD; should I put on a disc in "repeat" mode and just let it run? How long can the transport continuously run before I risk damaging something? Can or should I also do the "burn in" for CD mode?
Does anyone use "points" or other vibration control devices under their SACD player? I will be placing the player on the shelf of my VPI TNT Stand. It isn't actually a full shelf, just two very sturdy flat metal bars running from to back, on which the SACD player will sit. The legs of the stand are loaded with a total of 100 pounds of lead shot. That plus the weight of the TNT "plate" and turntable make the whole thing solid as a rock at over 200 lbs.
Thanks in advance for answering my questions, and thanks again for all of the help.

Congratulations Dave!
The player has a five year warranty. It needs about 2 months each of playing time for each of the modes
1. SACD - 2 months
2. CD - 2 months
I really don't think you have to worry about vibration too much. It
oversamples 64 times.
Just don't jump up and down on the floor.
At first it will sound nice out of the box. Then after about 5 hours of
play the bass will kind of disappear.
But just you wait. That bass comes back and the unit really blooms.
No kidding. You will really enjoy it.
I don't listen to rock and roll or classical music. But I can tell you
that it sounds fantastic with Jazz, Rythym and Blues and vocals
of any kind. Sinatra, Nat King Cole et al.
Best Regards,
Gary

Thanks Gary! Can you estimate hour many hours in your "2 months" suggestion? Should the unit be constantly powered up or turned off after each use?

Sorry for the typo in my previous post. It should have said "
Can you estimate how many hours in your "2 months" suggestion?"

Hi Dave,
I ran mine 12 hours total a day for two months in each mode.
After about a year of ownership I ran into some tracking issues and the transport needed to be replaced. The first production run had that problem.
Sony turned it around in 5 days out of their Bristol, PA repair center.
Five year warranty. Don't worry. Make sure you don't remove the cover
to peak inside or make modifications. You will void the warranty.
