I discovered a great new show last night called Weeds. I went to Ballbusters to see if they had Curb Your Enthusiasm season 5 and I ended up getting Weeds season 1 since they didnt have Curb. This is a funny show!

I adore weeds. New season starts next week. Its one of the best TV shows out there these days.

Also this season each week the theme song "Little Boxes" will be sung by a different artist each week.

Each week the show airs, "Little Boxes" will be performed over the credits by different artists including Grammy winner Elvis Costello, Englebert Humperdinck, Death Cab for Cutie, McGarrigle Sisters, Tom Maxwell and Ken Mosher (formerly from Squirrel Nut Zippers), Ozomatli, Regina Spektor, Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley and Tim DeLaughter of The Polyphonic Spree.

great cast, great show. Zooey Deschanel is showing up this season as is snoop dogg.

do not miss this show. Starts on the 14th on Showtime.

It really is quite the anti establishment show. I can take or leave the writing but the acting is cherry for me. I enjoy all the actors and that’s a rare thing. Huff is another Showtime show does the same thing for me. It's worth watching if your not easily offended, weeds that is.

:agree: The show's subject matter isn't for everyone. I actually like the show, but my wife won't watch it. I really like Tonye Patano's character, she is a scream.

That's funny. My wife and I JUST finished the season 1 set from Netflix. We both REALLY enjoyed this show. I'm not sure if it's worth a subscription to Showtime. I didn't know about Zooey Deschanel though. Looks like I have some internal debating to do.

One of my favorites. Also check out "Lucky Louie" on HBO - very funny and very un-PC. Wait, was I being redundant?

 I'll have to record them all to my Mac from the HD Tivo and burn them to CD.

I love this show. IMO, it's the best series Showtime has done, followed very closely by Huff. Weeds is very amusing and very non-PC. I can't wait for the new season. Mary Louise Parker = yummy :nyah:

I consider this and Deadwood the 2 best shows on TV at the moment. I found it by mistake and now the first season on DVD.

But have you ever watched Weeds . . . on weed?

It really is quite the anti establishment show.

Yes, I'm quite the liberal myself, but much of the time even I find the show's smug left-coast, "let's shock the heartland" worldview to be tiresome. But Mary-Louise Parker is great, and there are enough small moments like the older son's recognition that the deaf girl really is attractive to keep me watching. Nancy getting it on with her rival drug dealer was pretty funny as well. I could do without Kevin Nealon and the loser pothead brother-in-law, though,

I like Kevin Nealon, he plays a good idiot.

Interesting for me to realize this show might offend certain people or that people wont watch it due to its content. I'm so out of touch with America.

I dont see how anything on this show could offend people, especially those that watch Desperate Houswives or most other crap that is out there these days.

I don't find anything offensive about "Weeds" either. Maybe for some, politically incorrect and offensive are mutually inclusive. But that's cool with me, whatever floats your boat.:)

It doesn't offend me per se, it just traffics in cliches about suburbia that, while they may be true, are a little tiresome at times. I tend to agree with the show's view of suburbia - I just don't need it beat on my head with a stick the way the show does.

I like it a lot and my wife's a fan too. It's well written with interesting characters and the actors do amazing job as well. I agree with crimsoncing that this is the best stuff from TV along with Deadwood.

The end of season 1 was a shocker. My mind is ripe with ideas for season 2. I'll have to wait for it to come out on dvd though, I dont have Showtime.

I don't understand what people like about this show. It must be one of the worst shows I've ever seen on television. Not that I watch a lot - only Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development (at least, when it was being broadcasted) - but regardless, I never laughed once.

Lucky Louie has been hit or miss for me. I am still watching though. I think they said there are 2 episodes left after last night.

Weeds is using one of my brother's songs in one of the first episodes of the season. I guess I'll have to tune in. I'd never heard of the show before.

Nice, who's your brother? Is he in a band, a solo artist, or just the songwriter? :)

Wow. I never miss "Deadwood" (usually need to watch it 2x per episode to appreciate all the subtlety). I watched "Weeds" once and was repulsed. Made
me not want to light up for weeks! I knew somebody once who said that their favorite network shows were "Twin Peaks" and "Thirtysomething". Same sort of
disconnect at work here for me...
