Sounds like a cop-out way to fix a problem. Multichannel SACD decks have been around for 5 years, it shouldn't be this hard :wtf:

This is sad news. If I were a DV137 user I would be quite enraged by their sudden, probably momentary, drop of multichannel.

What if you bought this player because of the much sacd capabilities?

They seem to be blaming the SACD discs for the problem. I don't recall any other manufactures having a problem with the discs.

This is surprising, and highly disappointing, coming from a company like Arcam.

You would have thought they would have done their homework before releasing this player.

I am an Arcam owner and supporter in the market for a new universal player.

Despite this the DV-137 has just been strucken from my list.

That's a tough decision for them to make considering how many quality alternatives are out there at that price point.

The Marantz DV-9600 is superb, and lists for the same $2K. If one could push $3K, the Denon DVD-5910ci is the king of the hill. I just couldn't imagine either of those two deciding one day to 'drop' MCH SACD :shake:

Wow, what an idiotic way to solve a problem. Can you imagine Ford or any other manufacturer building a car and down the road finding out that one wheel repeatedly falls off and then, instead of fixing the problem, just says they're going to continue building them but only with three wheels?

Ridiculous. My opinion of Arcam has just dropped several rungs. :shake:

If you decide to get rid of your Arcam equipment with a 75 % discount, I'd be interested
