I am seriously considering buying Martin Logins for my home theater/audio room. ML Scenarios for the front, ML Scripts for surrounds and ML Cinema for center. They will be driven by a Acurus 5 channel amp and a Aragon processor. Anybody here us ML’s for surround?
This is my first “serious” audio system since I purchased a pair of AR 3A speakers in 1973. I am real nervous. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

Martin-Logans are very hard to drive at Home Theatre levels.
Have you tried this system out in a real life situation?

I agree with Steve. They take some serious amperage to wake them up in an HTS. What are you going to be driving them with and have you listened to that exact setup with a loud movie. I would recommend not just part of the movie, watch a whole movie with the exact set up if possible.

Steve,
Thanks for the reply. I have not heard Martin Logins playing HT in a real life situation. I have only heard them play music, which sounded great. I am going to Tweeter on Saturday to listen to the ML's do Home Theater.
On a different topic---I found two old issues of "Audio" magazine that had an interview with an engineer that worked at Mowtown in the 60's (I forgot his name). The articles have great vintage pictures of the studio, mixing equipment, speakers, etc. The article gets very technical about the equipment. Great reading. Would you like a copy? Let me know how to send it to you.
I am willing to post the articles on the board for everyone to read, but I am concerned about copyright issues. Does anybody have any suggestions?

John,
I'd love to see them, thanks. You can send them to my attention at:

As for posting them here, I don't know. Anyone else?

I heard the ML's at Tweeter. I thought they sounded real good in surround. The volume levels were not cranked.
There is a Martin Logan system at Sound and Cinema here in Atlanta with Lexicon processing and a Sony 900 DVD player that offers a great HT experience.
I am not sure how many watts they are using, however.

You may want to reconsider the Acurus amp if you have not bought it yet...
I have an Acurus A100X3 which I use to drive the Center and Rear channels in a Home Theater System. It is fine for what I bought it for. The voices in the center channel are portrayed very accurately. However, when my Krell Amp that I use to drive my 2 front stereo channels needed to be sent back to Krell for repairs, I was greatly disappointed when I used the Acurus for music. It had a flat soundstage and limited bass.
Suggest finding a used Krell 5 channel or Classe on Audiogon or eBay for slightly more $$.

I'd have to agree - I used to have an Acurus and an Aragon - neither were that impressive. I susequently owned a Sunfire for a number of years and felt it was superior to either of the previous two. Take a good look at a Cinema Grand for HT with ML speakers - I doubt it will run out of steam....

There is a Sunfire 5 channel amp at Avalon Audio Video which is on Audiogon. They get a great rating. Have you every purchased from Audiogon?

I purchased a mono sub amp from an Audiogon web retailer and all went well. The amp (AudioSource) powers my SVS sub.
