I am looking at purchasing a set of Dynaudio speakers for a 5.1 sound system.
Anybody have any comments or personal experience with Dynaudio speakers?
Thanks,
John

Never heard the surround setup but I have done many sessions with their studio monitors. The larger ones sound great. I can mix on them all day and not have any worries. It took a few hours to get used to the brighter top end. But the smaller models have a notched out midrange (3KHz area) that I can't stand.

I know there considered top notch speakers. They always have a demo at the NYC Hi-Fi Show and that room sounds very good.
In fact this past year they were using Steve's mastering of the Buddy Holly greatest hits cd as their demo material.

I have a pair of MDY-3's I built from components sourced from Madisound - 2 way 6 1/2" midwoof / 1" dome tweeter in a time aligned cabinet; verrrrrrry good midrange performance, highs aren't aggressive unless the recording is that way, bass is surprisingly good for the cabinet's size. Lotsa big name speaker manufcaturers use drivers sourced from Dynaudio - they ain't cheap but you get super build quality. They are power sucking hogs, so be prepared to give 'em the juice they need to sing...
