i just hoovered the woofer of my b&w cdm-1, at the recommendation of a b&w technician.. and !! :goodie: !! - suddenly my stereo woke up... and threw away a massive blanket lying over its sound. i must add that i live in a rathwer dusty flat, with old windows not shutting off perfectly from the street dust coming in.. but i wouldn't have expected an effect THAT audible.

Blimey - I'd be scared stiff of hoovering mine - one shaky nudge in the wrong direction... doesn't bear thinking about. Might be worth a try though, I have a dog and it's dust heaven.

If your woofers are dusty, then a good dusting with a (clean!) paintbrush will do the job without damage. But don't let anything go near metal dome tweeters!

"hoovering" - interesting word.

At one stage, the only vacuum cleaner you could buy was made by Hoover. I certainly used the word "hoovering" as a child in Australia.

I think the word is often used in Oz, NZ, Britain - and clearly Germany - as well, but strangely enough, despite being invented in the US, it's my impression that the word "hoovering" is not as common here.
