In honor of Thanksgiving, what ONE remastered CD did you find the most disappointing once you heard it?
My has got to be the 24 bit remaster of the Little River Band's Greatest Hits. The songs are too bright and unnaturally airey and they used the wrong version of "Take It Easy On Me"...sounds like an outtake.

Songs For Swingin' Lovers...thanks for nothing, Capitol.

Beatles, 1. I used to be a Beatles completist, but after hearing that I was so disgusted I gave up the (admittedly expensive) pasttime.

Wingspan was the first Beatles-related release I passed by in years, mostly due to my disappointment with 1 ...

By far the most disappointing release was actually several releases. The MFSL release of the UltradiscII's that were already available as UD1's. http://ubb.fanasylum.com/smiles/ashamed.gif http://ubb.fanasylum.com/smiles/fart.gif

Here's a second vote for Beatles 1.

Yea, Beatles 1 was pretty bad. Huge dissapointment. But for me it was....

David Bowie, Ziggy Stardust.

Sonically, I think Beatles was worse but Ziggy was more disappointing for me. And when I finally realized who and where it was remastered..... ugghhhhh!

Huh. I really like the sound of that cd, but I'm no audiophile. That is an alternate version of Take It Easy On Me plus an alternate Night Owls and one other I can't think of. These were mistakes and the cd was recalled. You have a collectors item, it was going for bucks on ebay a while ago. I like the Night Owls, lots of extra guitar parts.

Just replace "Ziggy" with "The Man Who Sold The World" and you have my exact same thoughts.

Moody Blues "Anthology"
http://gs.cdnow.com/graphics/COVERART/AMG/L/70/00/00207000.jpg

This http://www.film-tech.com/ubb/bs.gif of a double CD compilation album has remixed/remastered songs. This is example of what happens when drunken monkees who don't give a rodent's derrire about the final product can do to original material with digital equipment. I swear they were using on/off switches instead of slider bars. Transient notes were truncated. Hard switching to bridges were obvious. Anything & everything musical about Moody Blues was completely obliterated. http://www.integracoustics.com/images/smilies/chainsaw.gif

My pick would have to the 25th Anniversary edition of Aqualung-the one that came in the gray jewel case. Think it was a UK-EMI import. What an absolute waste ! I've heard 8 tracks that accidentally got dropped in the washing machine play better than this. Steve gets my vote for the definitive edition on this one. Thankful...oh hell yeah ! -ED

Astral Weeks - current domestic CD copy. Why hasn't this been remastered like most of the other VM CDs? Master tape problems? The Simple Vinyl LP is also terrible.

Yeah, All thanks to Steve H. Now we know what EMI-Capitol does to their stuff. Shame!

Kinda destroys your enthusiasm for new Beatle-related product, huh?

But, "Wingspan" was NOT no-noised because it has much hiss. The problem is that it's EQ'ed too bright.
