In an old thread, you mentioned that one should replace the British rectifier tubes in the old Vox amps. I think it was because they don't work correctly with US mains voltage. Would this hold true with British rectifier tubes used in stereo equipment in the US? Is this somethng tube rollers should be aware of?

No, different thing althgether. The British tubes are fine, but when used in BRITISH gear, you need British voltage.

I use British tubes all the time in American gear.

You need to know their American tube code to substitute the right tube
like for example 5AR4 for US code European code is GZ 34. To get the
right voltage.
