Did anyone else catch this today- VH1 airs an impromptu acoustic performance(VH1 says it was Harrison's last public performance) in the VH1 studios from 1997. Harrison was with Ravi Shankar doing a PR visit for ravi's latest Lp at the time which George produced and some lady in the studio gives George a guitar in the studio and they coerce George into playing. Three songs aired including "All Things Must Pass", a Wilburys tune, and an unreleased tune. I truly enjoyed the show--just can't figure out why they let this stay in the can so long as it apparently never was aired. Just wonder if there were any others songs not aired.

Supposedly, that was it. I did see that as well. Very nice little performance. I was wondering when that was...

I think the lady might have been Shankar's wife, she was of his age and desent, although I can't be sure.

There's a lot of things MTV & VH1 (Showtime) put in the can that usually don't see light of day. It just so happened, this did. It aired last night with a revolving caption on the bottom reminding us all that George "has passed". I did note the program was at odd length. I don't think that was Harrison's public performance, although at camera, maybe it was. Could have sworn he was on a few radio shows within the past year....

It actually DID run in 1997. I taped it back then. I don't know if the lastest version (I didn't watch yesterday) had any additional footage but "ATMP" was included in the original airing...as was an Indian tune. VH-1, also during that same time period ('96 or '97), ran George's 1970's era appearance on the Dick Cavett show with Gary Wright. Personally, I think George's finest moment ever on US TV was his 1976 SNL performances with Paul Simon....mom let me stay up late for that one! : )

What VH1 did was re-edit what they taped to show more of George's conversation & playing, so it's very different than the 97 show. The host, can't remember his name, said that he originally thought that the woman who brought the guitar was with Harrison but it turned out to be a girlfriend of one of the VH1 crew.
