EVERY Doors studio album AND AL have been remixed in 5.1 surround. What you will see this year is a box set of EVERY studio record and AL, each with two discs: a remastered CD with the classic mix AND, if all of The Doors are satisfied and happy, a brand-new mix from Bruce Botnick, using the latest state-of-the-art technology to bring out Jim's voice, the timbre of all the instrumentation, and a clarity, depth and scary-great mix like you've never heard, including parts that were buried or left out of the original mix. Don't worry, though, the original mix, albeit completely remastered, will be there, too.

    Sound damn good..... :righton:

I wonder if they dropped the "extra tracks" plan, or if they just didn't mention it.

Good luck gettin' everyone on board...hopefully the quibbling will stop long enough to actually do this project.

Previously it was mentioned that all of the parties had approved the surround mix, so I hope it doesn't hinge on their being happy about anything else.

This sounds alright and everything but, I'd rather have Steve do "Soft Parade" and "Morrison Hotel" on gold CD's and with my DCC's, I'd be real happy.

I hope they stick to their two-disc strategy rather than making it a dual disc box set. Still, I wonder whether they'll follow the Talking Heads brick strategy of adding bonus audio tracks to the CD and bonus video footage to the DVD.

Wonder if we get the same 5.1 LA Woman mix or a new one?

The DVDA of LA Woman is kinda neato, but the 5.1 mix is really SO different in many respects. I'm hoping the original stereo mixes stay intact. :)

According to the quote, one disc of each two-disc set will be the original mix.

  18. I'm with you on that one. The L.A. Woman DVD-A mix is interesting to say the least, but I like the original mix, and that keeps me going back to Steve's DCC mastering every time. :)

"and scary-great mix like you've never heard, including parts that were buried or left out of the original mix."

If something was "buried or left out of the original mix", do you think that maybe it's because someone involved with the original mix WANTED it that way?

So the stereo mix on the dvd-audio disc is different than a mix DCC used? I thought only the 5.1 mix had some extra stuff in it. I'd like to see that 5.1 mix made into a 2 channel mix also, as an additional group.

AFAIK, the stereo mix on the DVD-A is the original mix, but I still prefer the DCC on sound quality for the stereo mix. I also enjoy the 5.1 mix on the DVD-A.

The box set sounds good, but let's hope we actually get it and that it sounds good.

I'm just worried about that 'completely remastered' bit.

Does this mean they include Ian Astbury's opinion now?
