I have a Technics SL-B20 and I don't want to trade up just yet. And the stylus on my fairly new (and cheap) Audio Technica AT90 seems to have gone kaput recently.

I have heard bad and good about Grado. The only other recommendation has been a Ortofon OMP3E.

Any recommendations on affordable P-Mount cartridges/stylus'? And where should I buy it from?

Thanks.

Try Jack's

http://www.sloca.com/home/html/products/ortofoncart_2.html?&card_id

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and order the X1-MCP. Great cartridge. Just got mine from Jack about 2 weeks ago. MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY P-MOUNT in the comments section of the order page. Free shipping (and a free CD) too.

The x1-mcp however is an MC cartridge with an output of 2mV. The Ortofon tm-20ud is a MM cartridge with an output of 4mV.

This is true. If you are connecting your turntable to a mid-fi receiver whose phono section is not capable of delivering at least 20 dB of CLEAN output, then you probably cannot use the X1. But if you can, the X1 will surely give you a more natural sound.
