I just bought an Adcom GTP-450 preamp/tuner and a GFA-555II amp for $50 at a yard sale. The GTP-450 works fine, no remote, and seems to sound ok, no seriuos flaws. The amp needs some fuse holders, one is missing all together, the other the slots for removing it are striped. The previous owner assures me the amp works ok once the fuses are installed. I am going to order the these parts (about $12 or so, holders and fuses). Assumeing the amp works ok, is this a good deal, or did I just waste $50?

Nice deal. Some of the fuse holders, including the ciggarette-lighter shaped push-twist types are available at RS.

If you can't find a proper fuse holder, you can always use a line fuse and solder it in. $50 each, or $50 total?

I almost bought the 555II on eBay last week for $100, used. Actually, all I need is a SS mono amp.

Hey sckott - get yourself a Dynaco ST-150 or ST-200 - pull some jumpers here, add some elsewhere and instant mono SS amp; cheap, too. Betcha the Haflers are easily switched to mono, too...
