Hey Claus,

You've been scooped, buddy, but if you learn anything more about this upcoming title that I may have missed in copying Sanctuary's Press Release, please share it; I'm ecstatic about this coming out too! :righton:

As am I. The only time I saw ELP perform (albeit on television) was back in the early 70's on a show called In Concert. I remember it being simulcast on a local FM radio channel as well so you were able to watch the T.V. and listen to the music in stereo. Keith Emerson did the spinning piano thing and the music was outstanding. That show alone hooked me on ELP.

Yes siree, that's the Cal. Jam footage you watched! :righton:

If I'm not mistaken the spinning piano stunt was devised just for that specific ELP performance, being that they were one of the two biggest headliners at the Jam that year. Taking into account that 30+ years separate my recollections of this performance, the stunt went a bit awry! Anyone who remembers this better than I apparently do or perhaps has seen it in booted form more recently, please correct me if I'm wrong: didn't Keith Emerson get stuck with the piano spinning out of control briefly almost injuring him?

Maybe it had something to do with an effects flashpot or the rig making contact with stage gear; I just don't recall for sure. My memory may be a bit fuzzy, but I do recall that something went askew with the stunt, although at the time it looked WAY-COOL!!! :D

My buddy just played a snippet of an ELP concert (Montreaux) from '97 on DVD for me on the telephone, and low and behold, Keith is quoting Monk's 'Round Midnight for a few bars! Made me laugh! He swears it is a great video, so I may have to check it out.

Great news! Saw them at the Yale Bowl(New Haven Ct.) summer 74. Incredible surround sound effect, Keith knifing, humping, then pushing his Hammond off the stage, endless supply of black hash being passed around. A show for the ages!
