For me, I would like to find a preamp that sounded as good as mine but also had remote control 'specially to control the volume. There are preamps out there that would do the job but only one drawback....they would cost BIG $$$$$. I have tried other (some fairly exotic) preamps but bought and returned to this model preamp 3 times already. Each time I return the reaction is: Wow, now that's music.

I'd like to improve the overall balance of my system...later this year I'm thinking about buying a Linn Classik with Kan speakers (I'm a bit of a Linny as well as a Sonyphile!) to sit alongside my Sony SACD/DVD player...but the sound synergy must be right.

I may wait until they upgrade the Classik to include SACD capability...which can't be far off now. Linn are supporting Sony/SACD but this hasn't yet reached their playback hardware.

Although there are many great components out there that I could buy, for me the biggest improvement would be new house with a bigger listening area. My audio room is only about 12 x 12 x 8. I would really love to get a 16 x 20 x 8 room or larger to really get a better presentation of the music.

Although I am relatively happy with my system, I think I could use an exotoc Linn or Oracle TT, tweaked to the max..... but I can't afford it. A better listening area, which would need a new house..... but I can't afford it. I hesitate to check out new tube equipment because I am happy with my antique tube equipment and want to remain that way;) . Looking for a reasonably priced SACD player. I think the Sony 775 can be bought for $500.00 (I thought I saw an Ad. at Bay - Bloor Radio). The Sony 555ES is $1,800.00. Yeooouch! But the bottom of the line Sony, single slot, can be had for a mere $177.00. If Steve had a ton of SACD's out I may have gone for that one. I still may - a throw away or I can later conenct it to the house system.

I am still experimenting with interconnects and cables and that'll probably take a while since there is soooo much stuff out there. I am *still* waiting for my handmade wires to be completed (solid silver & copper).

So in short: everything.......

I am considering the addition of the Musical Fidelity A324 upsampling DAC to my main system (NAD C 370/C 270 biamped set-up, Totem Arro speakers, Sony SCD-777ES). I've heard this DAC and read a lot of great things about it, so I would love to own one.

The A324 retails for $1195, and a local dealer will give it to me for $1164 out the door. Without my asking, he also offered six months same-as-cash financing, which is a nice bonus. Does anyone know of any dealers that would beat the price of $1164? Mail order is fine. A financing option would be nice too, but is not vital. Thanks in advance.

Thats an easy one...more speakers!

I would love to own better speakers like Paradigm or B&W but I would need a complete upgrade...5 speakers in all for my surround system and that would be over $2K-3K worth of speakers to do my room justice.

I need a Big Screen (55+") TV more at this point. And Pioneer TV's also cost around $3K.

I would also love to get one of those Sony widescreens like Steve has. They're awesome.

I'm in the market for a HD ready 16:9 widescreen RP tv. Which one does Steve have?

No doubt Khorn! Nice system BTW!;)
I would like to get a decent SACDP and a MacIntosh tube power amp that would help smooth out my system a little.

I'm thinking about a subwoofer next. I have nice transister power amps, but I would like to go with tubes. A better Turntable and arm would be good too.

Do the Thiels need a sub? I checked out you system. Looks pretty awsome to me. It has turntable upgrade written all over it.

Not to say there is anything terribly wrong with your table but Thiel, Pass, Krell? They are world class.

The analog end of my system needs some help. I've had some bad luck recently. The VPI Scout sure looks nice, but it's just a dream for now.

If it was a final upgrade I would probably change my Oracle TT for a mega deck - not sure which I would go for as I haven't done the listening but the Forsell, ClearAudio Master Reference and a Rockport Sirius would be on the long list.

When the numbers come in - maybe :) Andrew

I actually had the pleasure of auditioning those three tables side by side in Hong Kong.

You are very fortunate Scott (as are most people with a deck like yours :) ) - I wonder how many places on this planet you could hear those three together ?

I think there is either 1 or 2 of the latests Rockports in the UK - a couple of the older ones are still up for grabs - the ClearAudio is easy to get hold of and I know a chap who can get hold of the Forsell - but no more than two in the same place at the same time :(

Keep spinning the music - Andrew

Tubes, tubes, tubes, tubes, tubes (oops, more specifically NOS Amperex, Mullard, Western Electric, Tung-Sol, Teleunken, GEC tubes, tubes, tubes, tubes) to feed my slowly growing tube equipment fleet...

Yeah a new TT would be nice. I do like bass. I want to audition the new Thiel Sub-woofer with the 7.2s.

Hey Indy, put your stereo in the profile.

I need new speakers and preamp and power amp

I have a rather modest sound system compared to most of the posts here.
I budgeted well and have been able to acheive pretty decent sonics for the
dollars spent. Mostly due to research and bargain hunting.

My Sound System

1. Sony XA77ES SACD
2. Denon 3300 pre/pro amp
3. Anthem MCA 5
4. four identical Paradigm Studio 40's
5. One Paradigm CC450 Center channel
6. Velodyne HGS-10 Sub
7. Monster M1000 cable
9. PAnasonic RV80 DVD

9. Pioneer Elite 53" PRO510 RPTV

My weak link is the Denon pre/pro and the Panasonic RV80 DVD

I would be happy to replace the DENON with and Anthem Pre/Pro
and the RV80 DVD with a Camelot DVD player maybe.

Regards,

Gary S. Freed

The speakers. I have Bose 401s and a wife who feels that they are fine :( :sigh:
I tried to get my older brother's Advents, but some of his students overloaded them at a party in his house and blew them.
I told him not to discard them as the drivers could be replaced.

The wives need to learn what good sound really is. Once they hear good speakers, they will begin to understand what good sound really is.

Yeah, but then they don't seem tp deal to well with the price of a good speaker up-grade.:D

Same thing with my wife. Is this common? ;)
