Pioneer DV 563A bungle! The problem persists!!!!! Guys, I musta played around with my menu services too much! Right now, the player reads the cd layer only with hybrid discs yet it reads SACD on dedicated SACD discs. What do I change in the menu settings to get it to default back to reading the SACD layer first? Thank you so much!
From Remote or player front with a disc in but stopped: Home Menu > Initial Settings > Options > SACD Playback > (Multi-Ch or 2ch )
Make sure that after you select "2ch" that you press the "Enter" button. If you just go back using the directional keypad it won't save the selection...
Yes, that is the key. It took me quite some frustrating times of selecting "large" and "small" speakers to figure this out.
Have done so and it still defaults to cd. Remember, if I put in a single layer SACD, it plays it. It is hybrids that are where it is defaulting. And the initial settings SACD playback says 2ch. Enter button pressed many times. (in quiet desperation!)
Might be time to do a player reset...wipes out all your settings to factory. Probably will fix this "brain fart." Hold down STOP button on front panel, then press STANDBY/ON. "Let's Get Started" screen will come on, etc etc. Good luck!
Spoke too soon everybody. It seems that I was lucky when I put in a Living Stereo SACD that time. Reloading it gave me a cd reading. Doing this over and over again (opening and closing the cd tray with disc in it) sometimes (rarely) gave me the SACD reading. Mostly it was CD only. Hmm..... Tried the AF Deep Purple SACD. No reading of SACD no matter how many times I re-loaded the disc into the player... Maybe the laser is dirty? Why would it be so fickle? Help!
This is starting to sound serious. Perhaps you're in need of a software upgrade? Does anyone know if there is one available?
Well it doesn't sound like the DVD-A problems. And this is just starting to happen. Do they recommend cleaning the lens?
Four ways: 1) Open the tray and aim a can of compressed air in there. 2) Remove the case and take better aim. 3) Buy one of those DVD Lens Cleaner discs at your local music/computer/stereo barns. 4) Take it to a repair shop that will do it for you.
Thanx. I don't have any air here so I will have to go to a hardware store and buy some... I hope it does the trick!
I have some air here (and it's not just my usual "hot air" either).... hopefully I can find it. Send me a PM!
A small can of compressed air will cost ye around $6-8 at most places (Staples, Office Depot etc). Seems like a lot for nearly nothin', doesn't it?
I'm glad you got it working! (I was getting nervous thinking it was a manufacturing problem as I am also a 563A owner ) From what I understand, you should not use those "lens cleaning" CDs unless you are sure that they use a very fine soft brush. Also, be VERY CAREFUL with the compressed air as you could very easily cause more damage than good. I had seen a suggestion to use a photo lens blower for this, but it almost always requres opening the case. The lens is plastic, so if you use a liquid it should be ispropyl alcohol. Please feel free to correct me here, I am mainly going by memory from prior posts.
