The Sound of Jazz

Does anyone know if "The Sound of Jazz-Complete Edition" has been released on DVD as listed for Feb. 22? I can't seem to find out if copies actually reached retailers yet. I have an older DVD copy that is brutal to watch and marginally ok to listen to.

I've been waiting for this one too. The Sony CD remaster - which was from the studio a few days before and not the show - is absolute audiophile. It's one of my favorite jazz discs.

I agree! I've got that cd and it smokes! I'm a big Red Allen fan and he had a great resurgence, along with his buddy Coleman Hawkins, at this time. Unfortunately, their recordings together from this period are mostly OOP, save "World On A String". And the "Sound of Jazz" video and cd are worth the price of admission alone for the Lester Young & Billie Holiday reunion. I can't wait to replace my washed-out DVD. Let me know if you hear anything and I'll do the same for you!

I taped this off of PBS umpteen years ago, and have a mint mono LP. Highest recommendation!!!
