The fourth Law & Order series started last night. We have another winner.

Just sitting down to watch the second episode right now. (CTV Halifax - Atlantic time zone). Interesting that they left Jerry Orbach in the opening credits for yesterday and today's episode. I had a lump in my throat last night and probably will again, when I see him tonight.

Tonight's episode features Peter Coyote.

Two interesting pieces of trivia.

Fred Thompson is credited in the new show as Fred Thompson. In the main Law & Order show he's credited as Fred Dalton Thompson.

Kirk Acevedo who you may remember as Miguel Alvarez on Oz is a cast member in the new Law & Order series. He is playing Lennie Briscoe's detective partner. His character is D.A. Investigator Hector Salazar.

I thought the name Salazar was familiar, so I did some digging.

Last year on season/series 3 of 24 actor Vincent Laresca played one of the brothers involved in the Mexican drug cartel. His character's name...Hector Salazar.

p.s There is an intersting cameo this evening.

Yes,I agree the show looks good,I may have to quit watching SVU and concentrate on this one (I don't have the time to juggle 4 Law & Orders plus the TNT repeats!) Loved Bebe Neuwirth! It was painfully obvious watching Jerry Orbach that he was not well.

Jerry actually looks much better in the second episode than in episode 1, IMO. His voice sounded strained in the first one.

Ah, I knew I recognized him, but I couldn't remember which program he was on before. Thanks!

I missed the first episode, but caught tonights. I liked it very much. Sad to see this as Jerry's last appearance ever.

I have a full Friday night on TV now. I have to juggle all three Sci-Fi shows - both Stargates and Battlestar Galactica, with Enterprise, Monk and now I have to squeeze Trial By Jury in there. Sci-Fi re-runs all three shows again, and USA re-runs Monk an hour later, but that puts me up til 1am now.

Kirk Acevedo's not the only one. I've only seen a handful of episodes of Law & Order, but I must have caught regular or guest appearances by half the cast of Oz. Different networks, but I wonder if there's a producer in common or something...

As a Law and Order addict, this is the last thing I needed. But this show looked very good and has promise. Orbach looked tired and ill in the first episode; cast a sadness over the show. I'll miss him. I especially liked his work in Woody Allen's "Crimes and Misdemeanors" (am I alone in thinking this his one of Allen's best?).

I like the realistic depiction of jury selection, electonic message testing, etc. Things that are part of high-profile cases we never see on TV.

There goes another hour a week.

I tried to watch the first episode but didn't find it captivating. I will admit that part of the reason to watch was to see Jerry's last performances. I like the original series as well as SVU and generally watch them every week.

I enjoyed last nights episode a bit more but I'm not sure if I will continue to tune in.
