With widescreen sets becoming more common, are we destined to find movies incorrectly cropped from 1.33:1 down to 1.78:1? Disney botched the transfer for "Aladdin and the King of Thieves". The box says it's supposed to be the (correct) 1.33:1 ratio, but it's actually anamorphic 1.78:1. Here's an example of the cropped framing - anyone else worried this'll start to happen more often?

Well, I don't think a direct-to-video Disney sequel is too high on their list!
But it shouldn't take Criterion to get the AR correct. This "Aladdin" sequel includes lots of shots similar to this one - heads are chopped off all over the place...

...been a worry of mine since the butchering of Kung Fu (TV SHOW) and AHDN...I always opt for the true WIDESCREEN offering over P&S...It's funny, people want P&S to fill their screens, now we have chop and crop for the WIDESCREEN TV viewer! Godda love it! Just leave it be...
