I have an DX-C606 Integra 6 disc player which at the time, 6 years ago; was a top of the line player, but recently have had trouble with skipping. The weird thing, is that the pattern of skipping is only on discs with at least 70 min. of music. Is it harder for a laser to track with a disc that has more information on it? Does this make sense? This is just speeding up my buying a SACD player anyway!!!

Steve,
Are you saying that it only starts skipping when the laser reaches 70+ minutes or that it skips at any point on skips with over 70 minutes of music on them?
Have you tried cleaning both the laser lens and the transport track?;)

Yeah, the transport track might not be totally flat. You possibly have the single-focus beam type of pickup, as most changers do from the late 90's.
A camera blower on the lens and a gentle touch will help immensely too. Time to open it and see whatcha got!

Joseph, it skips at any point on a disc with at least 70 minutes of music on it. The pattern has been, that a disc with under that amount of time, there has been no trouble at all!

The further away the pickup is from the center of the disc, there's problems, but expecially after 68-69 minutes of the disc.
A rare occurance, but worth mentioning, is the fact that the disc isn't running at the correct speed (200-300RPMs twords the outside) or the fact that still, the pickup is gently getting further from the disc when the pickup goes down the transport some. These can be tweeked, but it's usually a dirty pickup or transport rails.
