Steve, Did you ever complete the ZZ Top remasters for DCC? If so is there any chance we'll ever get to hear them? This is one band whose digital output needs some serious cleanup. Especially the earlier albums. A vinyl re-issue series would be nice too. Hey if Bob Irwin can get Dylan, you should be able to get the Top.

Ok- I assume Steve's lack of a reply speaks volumes. Too bad, I was looking forward to hearing these. Oh well, like the good book says, "there's bigger deals to come".

I'm sure ZZ Top records would be a top seller... but I'd like only the original mixes and not the crappy remixes! If DCC or S&P will not release them, I'm sure Rhino will do it, and that's bad!
I would not worry too much about Steves lack of response. He rarely comments on projects because they can be pulled at the last second (ie: Johnny Cash) or the record company may never find the correct tapes.
And he rarely comemnts on record companies. Why risk a business relationship or FUTURE business relationships by potentially generating bad publicity? Why complain about others in the industry when he may be working on a project with them one day? Professional courtesy, right?
Anyway, just my opinions......... Steve can shoot me down if he wants! After all, Steve, I don't mind if you acidentally mention the release date! :D
And don't forget, there may be a new owner of DCC in the works. This legal wrangling will take some time to work out, too....
Do you think that Steve will be the only mastering engineer that DCC uses? With a new owner........... well who knows!
But I am glad for this Hoffman dedicated site! :D :D :D :D

Someone needs to exterminate those crappy remixed Cds (All LPs before El Loco). No one really knows just how good ZZ Top sounds on those old London Lps....ect... Only thing that's easilly obtainable is the Best Of ZZ Top (WB) that keeps the tight sound. The CD was mastered a lil' too low though.
