Anyone buy the recent "Best of Kansas" remaster?

CDNow has this under production credits:

Vic Anesini : Remastering
Jeff Glixman : Engineer, Producer, Remastering

I have the early 80s CBS version... haven't listened to it in ages, so I can't honestly say I have an opinion on it. I suppose the fact that I love the album but haven't pulled out the cd in probably a decade saying someting though. :)

I have bought Masque and Leftoverture... sound very good! Better than the early 2 CD box set ...

I have it and it sounds fine, but I remember someone having a complaint with it.

I always liked the way Leftoverture sounded on vinyl. Even on CD, the regular Sony/CBS copy sounded very good.

I have the remaster Best Of and it sounds very good. I don't have the old one, but I seem to remember that it used remixes of some of the songs from Leftoverture (Carry on Wayward Son and The Wall) that were absolutely horrible. Giant 80s drum sound, lots of echo on the vocals. Really, really bad. Interestingly, the old release had a new song "Perfect Lover", with John Elefante, that has been taken off the new release. I don't think it's avaialble on anything else, so if you're a completist you have to keep the old one. Now, if only there was a Song For America remaster...

Yes, the sad thing is, the Best OF on CBS Associated labels, went to every radio station in the country, and is now on the Scott Systems, so chances are, when you hear "Carry On Wayward", you hear that really phoney echo slathered all over it. God, what balls did this engineer have. Oh well.. Back in the 70's, all I had was the Krishner single and edited at something like 3:45. Yeeikes!

Nonetheless, it's nice to see Kansas in better light. Vic Anesini has done very little to offend my ears. They did a wonderful job with Aerosmith, and got the right tapes!

Grrrrrr, I HATE those Kansas remixes. Sony tried to shove those at us for some of the DCC Compilations. I had to beg for a tape transfer of the original mixes.....

Someone mentioned Song For America-- Along with the horrible remixes, the edited Song For America on the first "Best Of". Also, "No One Together" is so quiet, I have to turn up the volume extra loud to hear it at the same level as the rest of the CD.
I was also disappointed with the 2-CD boxed set knowing how much more stuff could have been put on there.

As a general comment to boxed sets...I never like to see live version of songs on a boxed set unless they are IN ADDITION TO the studio versions.
