Brad and Jen have split, says Pitt's longtime publicist
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Hollywood glamour couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have split, Pitt's longtime publicist confirmed Friday.
"We would like to announce that after seven years together, we have decided to formally separate," the couple said in a joint statement released by Pitt's publicist Cindy Guagenti. "For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration."
The couple didn't indicate if they plan to file for divorce and Guagenti declined to comment beyond the statement.
The separation, first reported on People magazine's website, came 4½ years after the couple's Malibu, Calif., wedding and after months of speculation their marriage was in trouble.
Aniston has recently been photographed in public without her diamond-studded wedding ring, said People, although the magazine reported the couple spent the New Year's weekend together on the Caribbean island Anguilla with Aniston's former Friends co-star Courteney Cox and her husband, actor David Arquette.
Pitt, 41, and Aniston, 35, have been together since being set up on a blind date in 1998. They were married in 2000 in a lavish wedding at a Malibu estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Some 200 people attended the wedding that included four bands, a gospel choir, fireworks and tens of thousands of flowers.
Part of Pacific Coast Highway was shut down to accommodate the influx of guests, which included actress Cameron Diaz and most of Aniston's Friends co-stars.

I'm a little surprised by this one. They seemed very compatible.
Now we will have to endure endless photos of them out canoodling with other people etc....

Now that my girlfriend and I are also heading for splitsville, maybe I should make my own move on Jennifer Aniston. I bet she will be impressed by the size of my....music collection.

Why do people care about people they do not even know (and could care less about them?)

I could give a rat's behind about these 2 overpaid dorks. And let me be the first to say I don't find her the least bit attractive, unless you like your woman with Jay Leno chins!

Funny that so many people who don't care are reading and posting on this thread. :shh:
Okay, I don't really care either and here I am posting and reading.
This news has me almost as distraught as Thursday's announcement that San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsome and his wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle-Newsome, were going to divorce. This was particularly distressing to those of us in San Francisco because we honestly believed that the Newsomes were the next Kennedys. (Okay, maybe we didn't really believe that but there was a recent, extremely lavish photo spread that attempted to compare the chic and attractive couple to John and Jackie.) I'm not joking about this latter part, only my reaction to it.

I always wondered about ol' Gavin. He is mayor of San Franicsco, went out of his way to marry the gays, and is quite the pretty boy himself. Hmmmm...... ;)

I'm a little surprised by this one. They seemed very compatible. I guess we're in the minority here, John, but I have to agree with you. I thought this was one Hollywood marriage that might stand the test of time. It is interesting that they chose to name their production company (the upcoming Charlie & the Chocolate Factory is their project), Plan B, although at the time I doubt it was because they anticipated this... but it sure fits now! :)
We just saw "Ocean's 12," and I had remarked to my wife, "lucky Brad Pitt. Work all day with Catherine Zeta Jones and go home to Jennifer Anniston."

I started this thread and am quite suprised by some of the comments here. This marriage did appear to be one that would last a lot longer than it has.
I read yesterday that when Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston were married that she legally changed her name to Jennifer Pitt. In today's world, that's love. My ex never changed her name when we got married. I had to sit my dad down and explain the whole modern society thing to him.
That comment about Jennifer was a bit natsy. This woman is a fine actress in both comedy and dramatic roles such as The Good Wife. And she's not too hard to look at either. What Jay Leno chin?

They're both so darn pretty that my first instinct is to loath them. But, ya know, they're both quite good at what they do.
My favorite Pitt project is "Kalifornia", he was great in that. His role in "Oceans 11" is a bit more predictable but still fun.
Jennifer's a fine comedic actress. Just right in the brilliant "Office Space" and charming in "Bruce Almighty". She did good voice work in the underrated "Iron Giant" animated film.
Heck, I sort of like 'em I guess. :)

Well it's a hard decision, and one I struggled with. In the end though I had to go with BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.
Darn. I guess we'll never know.
