(the thread title is bursting with sarcasm) :p - Man, I think it's great you can find so many past shows (& past seasons of some present shows) - have you seen the selection at Best Buy? If only the public was that excited over surround music! I would love to have the SCTV boxes but don't want to pay 65 bucks each for them. The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, Alias, 24, Millenium, Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends, Bernie Mac...I could go on a while. Any favorite box sets of TV favorites you've purchased and enjoy (or vice versa)? Also, mention box sets you'd love to see that don't yet exist. I'd like to see "The Invaders" (1967 sci-fi series), or The Monroes (1968 one-season Western, starred Barbara Hershey).

I collect the Simpsons, I Love Lucy, and Seinfeld.

I would probably get SNL if they were complete shows.

That's about it though. I can't think of anything else I would want for TV DVD's.

I'd love complete season/series sets for:

"The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (Season 2 and beyond)
"Barney Miller" (Season 2 and beyond)
"The Bob Newhart Show"
"Newhart"
"WKRP"
"Hill Street Blues"
"St. Elsewhere"
"The Wonder Years"
"It's Garry Shandling's Show"
"Fernwood 2-Night"
"Get A Life"
"The Odd Couple"
"Get Smart"
"Police Squad"
"Alfred Hitchcock Presents"
"The Fugitive"
"Max Headroom"
"Buffalo Bill" (great, short-lived Dabney Coleman series)
"Frank's Place" (great, short-lived Tim Reid series)
"My So-Called Life" (whatever happened to Claire Danes, anyway?)

And, of course, much more "MST3k".

The Brak Show, the Adult Swim version, is coming out on DVD in February, and there are already two volumes of Space Ghost Coast To Coast out there, which leads me to ask, where are the much funnier Cartoon Planet episode DVD's?

Along those lines, we've got the short lived Patrick Warburton live action version of The Tick, but how about the much better cartoon version? At least the first season with Micky Dolenz doing the voice of Arthur, the Moth.

For me, it's just Get Smart and Batman.

I would love the rest of The Larry Sanders Show to come out. HBO released season 1 then just seemed to forget about it :realmad:

So far, the only DVDs I've bought for me have been box sets.

Those I have so far:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Seasons 1-7
Ed Sullivan Show: The Four Beatles Shows
The Flintstones Seasons 1-2
Looney Tunes Golden Collection 1-2*
Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends "Seasons 1-2" (revisionist history, but still fun to watch)SCTV Season 1
The Twilight Zone Season 1
Wacky Races

* Yeah, I know, they were theatrical shorts. But I'll forever associate them with TV.

Those I want to get when/if they come out:

Batman (1960s Adam West-Burt Ward series)
The Flintstones Seasons 3 and beyond
Looney Tunes Golden Collections 3-20 (or however many they need to have all 1,000-plus cartoons on DVD; I want 'em all, good, bad, indifferent or offensive)
Peanuts: The Complete TV Specials (in chronological order)
Police Squad!
Speed Racer (once there's a comprehensive box set; so far they've been coming out a few episodes at a time)
The Twilight Zone Seasons 2-5
Underdog (with the actual four-part serials, with Tennessee Tuxedo and/or Go Go Gophers and/or Klondike Kat, and not the lame-brained re-edited versions that currently exist)

Those that currently exist that I'll probably get some day:
Angel Seasons 1 and forward
The Honeymooners (the "classic 39")
Top Cat

Others are possibilities. I'd think about buying years of American Bandstand, for example. And Solid Gold. Ah, to see those dancers again!

Larry Sanders Show, The - The Larry Sanders Collection

Posted by Gord Lacey

Gary Shandling created quite a stir on Leno last night when it was mentioned that season 2 of The Larry Sanders Show would be released in the fall. Unfortunately that's not what's in store for the series. Columbia TriStar is working on a "Larry Sanders Collection" which will be produced by Gary Shandling and feature his favorite episodes from the series. Given his involvement in in the set, and his desire to do his favorite episodes, it's surprising that he would mention the season 2 set, especially on a nationally broadcast talk-show.

"The Larry Sanders Collection" should be a 3 or 4 disc set released in early 2005. Material hasn't been finalized yet. Maybe of you are probably shaking your heads at the announcement of a "best of" set, but it was Mr. Shandling that wanted to do this project, and Columbia TriStar hasn't ruled out future season releases, they just don't have anything planned at this time.

I'd rather have the entire seasons (and a bit faster then one season every 13 years), but I guess this is better then nothing. :sigh:

One show I would like to buy on DVD and I'm not sure if it has even been released yet is The Hitchhiker. This one never seems to get much mention here. FWIW I did enjoy Nicholas Campbell as the lead actor a little more than Page Fletcher, but all-in-all he did a great job.

Another Hitchhiker fan here but I preferred Fletcher in that role. Favorite episode: "Minuteman" about the yuppie couple in their BMW going through the countryside that meet up with a biker couple and events end up repeating. This series did the Twilight Zone style of sci-fi better than the 80's TZ on CBS.

uh, Guy Incognito, 'My So-Called Life' has been on DVD for, like, ages now. I believe it was one of the frist complete sets ever issued on DVD. there's no extras, but it's still worth buying. there's plenty available on ebay. your new year's resolution ought to be to buy one, it ought. :)

and, for ther record, Claire Danes has been very busy husband stealing from Mary-Louise Parker lately. that doesn't leave her much time for anything else. now, as to what AJ Langer has been doing, I do now know. haven't seen her since 'It's Like, You Know' went off the air. her agent must be, like, lazy or something.

I jsut made myself a box set of Larry Sanders. I bought the season 1 DVD that is offical. Then I bought about 75 tapes from a Hollywood Production House for Seasons 2-5 and I bought a bootleg of Season Six off eBay. I'm missing one episode (The Fourteenth Floor) but it's awesome.

Also, when Freaks and Geeks Yearbook Edition was announced I sent my picture in for the year book and I'm in it :)

They would have to include the infamous "Popsicle Twins" act as a bonus :) This was an act that opened the show that Barris thought for sure would be censored out and to his surprise it did not get cut and it actually made it to air.
