Before a favorite artist puts out a brand new CD, I like to go through their back catalog and have another listen. Never a big Zeppelin fan, I've always loved Robert Plant's solo work.
I played an old West German CD of his first, "Pictures At Eleven" and found it to be not a very good old first pressing CD- very messy sounding. Has there been any import remasters of this, or any of his CD's?
How would you rank the sound quality/recording of his solo CD's, best to worst?
Thanks!

I've been waiting for better sounding cds as well. Perhaps Steve and Kevin can work out a deal with one of the labels they are involved with and remaster Robert Plants catalog.
Look for the lps, there are still some sealed ones out there.

Was "Pictures At 11" ever remastered like most of the WEA stuff?

Since Plant is releasing his first new album in 9 years, I'm hoping that the record label will issue one of those promo-only greatest hits samplers. And I'll bet another guy with the same first name as me is hoping so too!!;)

Jimbo,
Robert Plant is on Univeral now. There is a 4-track sampler for the new CD floating around that I'm trying to get from the label rep (if I can get a hold of him). I don't know if Universal could get his back catalog licensed. What became of his Es Paranza (spelling?) imprint?
I'll let you know what I can get.
I didn't know there was another Jimbo lurking around here..:o

No, but the UK version of his last solo album, FATE OF NATIONS, did include a bonus track "Colours of a Shade" which was otherwise unavailable.
