Norm,
I don't think so. It's PAL, so unless you have a NTSC/Pal player you're out of luck. Somebody who knows more about this may chime in and prove me wrong, but I'm fairly certain you can't.
That looks like a nice set. I've seen the one disc US DVD they put out in 2000, and I thought that was pretty cool. I hope they put this out in NTSC.

The price on that DVD set (£54.29 plus at least £3 postage) is well over the top. I can't find that package of all three Old Grey Whistle Test Volumes listed (it could be a retailer exclusive pack), but Play.com do all three individual volumes for a combined total of £39.97 with free postage to the UK. Ebay buyer beware!

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion ... if I were you ... before reprogramming the country code on that DVD player, you are right :) ...

True. I came across the code for my player  . I'll have to give it a shot. Now all I need is a PAL DVD. :)

Check first if this DVD has region code limitation. I don't think it has.
The other problem is PAL playback in the US.

I believe many DVD players can be unlocked through entering some code.
One company even sells unlock code database for $10.
http://www.dvdunlocker.com/movies/menu.aspx
Your player in their database search google for your player unlock code.
Some of the players also have built in PAL->NTSC decoder andt in many cases plasma or some big screen TVS are multisystem and support PAL. If yours does not support you can check PAL->NTSC convertors from www.tenlab.com
I have TR-10sp. They can be found very cheap on ebay these days.

The three volume, four disc R2+4 PAL Old Grey Whistle Test box set was an Amazon.uk exclusive and is now OOP. I think the only "exclusive" aspect is the box itself. The disc contents are the same as the individual discs available separately. Unfortunately they've gotten more expensive at Amazon; volumes 2 & 3 used to be £13.61(about $26) each, now they're £15.98 apiece(about $31). Play.com has the lowest price, but they don't ship to the U.S.(and Playusa.com doesn't carry the DVDs in question :( ). I think Bensonsworld.co.uk (
http://www.bensonsworld.co.uk/v2/search/findproduct.asp?stype=dtitle&search=grey+whistle+test) has probably the cheapest available prices on the three volumes. I wouldn't hold my breath for a future R1 NTSC release of the 2nd and 3rd volumes, at least not in their entirety. When Volume 1 was liscensed for US release something like 17 songs were cut, including John Martyn, the New York Dolls, Tim Buckley, and Robert Wyatt, which is a shame.

The DVD's have started turning up in stores here in the Uk in the 'reduced' section - usually about £10 each - I didn't pay any more than that per disc.

Norm, I bought a $45 COBY brand DVD player just to watch my UK-import only box set of the ITV comedy/drama 'Cold Feet' and it was worth it. I posted this (
http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=35244&highlight=COBY) thread about finding the remote-control code to enter to enable the player to play the Region 2 discs and convert the picture from PAL to NTSC. Piece of cake.

Can you play DVD's on your computer? I think you can play PAL DVD's through that, though someone here could probably tell me otherwise.
I have something called Intervideo WinDVD as a player on my desktop, and you can dial in the region you want to play, or just put 0 in and play 'em all.
