I've been a little apprehensive to list this information but I have gotten so much from this forum that I've decided to share the wealth.

LET THE FLOOD GATES OPEN....

I've discovered a couple of sources to score great deals on DCC lps and CDs, Japanese CDs as well as a couple of MFSL. Now mind you, these are sealed new copies (not cutouts) that I recently found at (or below) original retail prices. Here's my list but hurry as inventory I am sure is limited on some of these:

http://www.mymusic.com/
Wheels of Fire DCC CD $38.90
Fresh Cream DCC CD $23.90
Robbie Robertson s/t MFSL CD $23.90
Queen Night At Opera DCC CD $23.90
There may be more hidden in there

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/
All japanese cds including the fabulous YES HDCD's for only about $16.00 each plus shipping. Buy several titles and spread the cost of shipping and save at least $5/cd from prices at online stores here. I also bought the japanses copy of Wheels of Fire for $25.79. You can also get the new 24 bit Queen reissues for about $19 each (I don't recommend them however). Amazing prices, great selection and some treasures only available in Japan.

You can find some great Vanguard 180 gram new records that sound great and very reasonable. I picked up some John Hammond and am very satisfied.

I picked up a new and sealed copy of Aqualung DCC lp for $28. The website still lists the lp so maybe they have some more.

Well that's some of the great finds that I have found recently. I don't work for any of these sites and don't know what they still have in stock but I have had very pleasant experiences with all of them.

So now it's time for you all to share the wealth and give up a couple of your secret sources....

Come on, share the wealth..................................

KLM,

What's your experience with those store, mymusic.com, in particular? Did your orders arrive within the time as promised?

Thanks!

I have ordered many things from mymusic.com and overall have had no problems. Shipments generally take about 5 days under standard postal delivery. I will tell you that I just discovered some of the DCC/MFSL titles a couple of days ago and have not received them. I expect delivery in a couple of days. I have ordered a lot of their other $9.99 titles and have no complaints. They also include 2 pieces of bazooka bublegum with every order...BONUS.

Why not? Just curious. I haven't heard any feedback on these newer remasters.

And thanks for listing those sources! :)

I have purchased a couple of the new japanese 24 bit Queen reissues and have been disappointed. Overall the sound is not much better than the Hollywood Records US remasters or the recent ones available in the Crown Jewels boxset. They are much louder with maybe a hint more detail however they have lost the detail, dynamics and ambiance. The best versions are still the MFSL (or DCC's Opera) cd's or the lps. I am a big queen fan and was quite dissapointed, I just can't recommend these. I for one hope Steve will get his hands on the original masters and re-release the entire Queen catalog on CD and vinyl.

Come on guys and gals, I don't see anyone else stepping up and disclosing any info.

By the way, it seems that mymusic.com also has some of the MCA gold titles as well for $23.90 (The Who and Steely Dan).

mymusic.com appears to have a number of McCartney gold discs available (although they don't have the one I would most like, McCartney.

OK here's the update. I received my DCC copy of "Wheels" today and am very happy. Unfortunately, I also received an email from mymusic.com that MFSL Robbie Robertson is unavailable and DCC Fresh Cream is backordered. Oh well, hopefully some of you are having luck on some of the other titles.

My impressions from comparing the new 24-bit Queen Jazz and the older Japanese reissue (mini-LP sleeve) were very similar... Wait, didn't we discuss that on the Audio Asylum board?:) I think we did (http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/music/rock/messages/11159.html)

You are correct SVL, we did discuss at Audio Asylum. I just wanted the members of this forum to also be informed. Knowledge is power.

KLM, if I remember right the reason why the Queen remasters on the "Crown Jewels" box set and the Japanese issue CD's sound crummy is because they were remastered by Peter Mew at Abbey Road Studios. His heavy handed use of No-Noise processing has become infamous, especially on The Beatles "1" compilation. If you're just looking for a standard issue Queen disc, The Greatest Hits 1 & 2 double CD sounds good. The DCC "Night At The Opera disc is quite good also if you can find a copy.

I have used mymusic.com many times and I've never had a problem. Great prices and very good shipping rates. As for japanese cd's, I used to buy from back trip record , but they have closed. I will give cdjapan a try.
Thanks!!

Is there a good sounding Greatest Hits vols. 1 and 2 to get? I am looking for the best sound - is the 2 CD set with the gold slipcase (US issue) a good one? Is it from the same masters as the crown jewel set?

OK, here's another store that might have some Gold cd titles available. I have attached a thread that takes you to the Cream page. They mention a Fresh Cream lp as well.....

Good luck hunting.

Anyone else out there with some finds?!?!?

Some of these are incorrect but I've found a couple of winners like "More Surf Legends" http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/results.asp?userid=3FIGYT0GYQ&CTR=386573&SIG=A
